Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The feeder could use more protection from rain with an "umbrella" over the top, either outside or inside. Overall, it's a very good product and performing as advertised.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The design is great, but the seed falls out as you are filling it because the inside grid is too big for finch food to stay in. Also the squirrels still get on it and shake all the seed out very easily.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The first day it was up it was filled with both Gold Finch's and other small birds. It's wonderful!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Squirrels hung upside down on it and shook seeds into their mouths; I added a stabilizer rod from the bottom to the pole. They learned to remove the lid; I invented "locks" over the top but they defeated each one. Now, it is wired shut while I think. We seem well matched in intelligence and enthusiasm, but today I'm the winner. Beautiful, excellent feeder; improve the lid and it will be "Excellent."
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Great for small birds and looks amazing. Only issue is the lid; it is flimsy and should fit tighter because it is being opened by larger animals. As every person who has bird feeders know, larger animals always want to get to the seeds. Important for companies to figure out how to make a tight lid.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
My bigger birds were a bit annoyed when this appeared, but the little guys needed a place to go without being pestered by blue jays. The red winged blackbirds are more polite to the litte guys but one did figure out he could hang on the bottom of this and get some seeds. Quality seems good and its easy to use.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The little birds don't have a chance to get at the seeds because there are always several chipmunks lounging around inside the globe. They empty the feeder at breakneck speed. I would have to get a second job to keep it filled so I will be trashing it.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Works well. Birds like it.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The top where you fill the seed needs a better design for attaching to feeder.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This feeder does not hold feed. Falls out and on to ground and wind blows it out also. Would return it if I had the box it came in. Very disappointed in it.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This feeder was very easy to set up and fill. I did find that some of the sunflower chips fell through the mesh, but not too many. It has stopped the larger birds and, so far, the little red squirrel that goes running around the inside of the other supposedly squirrel-proof feeder. The yellow finches and house finches can get in there with no problem along with the sparrows. One other reviewer said that it was difficult to fill, but I did not find this to be the case.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I just had to go out and chase a fuzzy-tailed rat off of it for the first time. The squirl shakes it and all the seeds fall out. It's great fun. The little birds are the only ones that can get the seed... Except when that squirl gets on it and shakes it.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Very unsatisfactory. Yes it kept the squirrels away, but also all the birds!
As it was not expensive and I am not good at returning things I will use it somehow as a hanging plant basket.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This birdfeeder keeps the bigger birds out as promised, but the top doesn't lock on very well. I've had to put a binder clip on it to keep it tightly shut. The feeder is meant for sunflower seeds, since anything smaller will spill out. But altogether, I am satisfied.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The best feeder that I have ever had. The squirrels apparently tried to get into it but were unable. As a consequence, they don't even climb up on it. The small birds feed inside the cage and larger ones can access food at the bottom.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I bought this feeder years ago when Gardeners Supply first offered and glad I did!
Not only do the Chickadees and Finches use it, I've seen Downy Woodpeckers getting in and getting sunflower seeds! As soon as I fill it, the Birds are waiting to get their seeds!
It's squirrel proof in my yard and we get 8 to 10 of them a day (mostly the gray ones and a few fox squirrels).
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This feeder saves a lot of sunflower seeds. The big birds cannot feed from it at all. Finally the little birds don't have so much competition.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This is squirrel proof and good for the small birds to access sunflower seeds.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
AGREE with "Sams Mom!" We have smart squirrels ... the big grey squirrels learned how to open the top fairly quickly. Seeing one of them IN the seed tube was a kick. Then our little "mommy" red squirrel found she can easily get seeds out of tube and sits up beside it while dining. Since we can see from her tummy that she has a family, we're okay with it. I did have a slight problem with putting out different kinds of seeds at first, but I found if you put in a layer of sunflower seeds, a layer of thistle, and a layer of smaller seeds it seems to work okay, while a few do go right through. The good news is that we have had a real increase in the types of birds and even have a pair of cardinals that feed on the ground with the sparrows! On the whole I love the feeder. I guess I'm supposed to say it was a holiday gift.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Great feeder for keeping out the big birds & squirrels. Finally found a feeder for the small birds to enjoy their food!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Almost squirrel proof, but I found a way to outsmart them. It's really awsome to see it full of finches and cardinals. When the one I'd had for years gave out, I bought two to replace it. So glad they were still available.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The feeder looks nice in the garden but the seed does not stay in the feeder. When you fill it the seed comes pouring out of the open weave inner "tube" area. The bottom section is so narrow (about 1.5 inches) that the seed falls out the bottom. And, the top does not latch securely enough to keep the squirrels out - I saw one down inside the inner tube. So, although it looks nice it's not very useful.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I wish this feeder worked. It only holds large sunflower seeds that are too large for small birds. The seed I use for small birds falls through the holes in the screen. It keeps the squirrels out but I've only seen a nuthatch go inside and not be able to feed. I liked your other colorful glass feeders best and will probably buy another one. I'll have to figure out what to do about the squirrels later.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
GLOBE CAGE FEEDER VERY ATTRACTIVE AND SIMPLE. NUISANCE BIRDS DON'T EVEN TRY, THEY STAY AWAY FROM IT WHILE THE SMALL BIRDS ENJOY THE EASE OF ACCESS AND EGRESS.
ON THE OTHER HAND, THE SQUIRRELS LEARNED TO GRAB ONTO THE OUTER SPHERE AND REACH INSIDE TO PICK UP LOSE SEEDS, THEN THEY WILL TILT THE ENTIRE CAGE TO MAKE SEEDS FALL. FINALLY, THEY FIGURED OUT HOW TO REMOVE THE LID AND GET THEMSELVES DIRECTLY INTO FEEDER. NOW, THAT IS QUITE A SIGHT.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The big birds and squirrels sit on the fence below this feeder and wait, sullenly, for seeds to fall astray while the little birds feed happily from this feeder! It satisfies my sense of justice!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
A very handy feeder which is easy to use. Allows easy viewing of birds as they feed.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Easy to use, and the blackbirds cannot get into the seed. The finch love this feeder and are not intimidated by the bigger birds any longer.
I wish they made one for thistle seed.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
unique sanctuary for smaller birds to dine
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Attracts the smaller birds by the plenty!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Great feeder. While not entirely squirrel proof, they tend to spend little time on the feeder so it is mostly full of little birds.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
My son sent me this bird feeder for my birthday - I liked it so much I sent one to him for his birthday, and he was very pleased with it also! It really keeps the squirrels out!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
would be great as a thistle feeder if screening were smaller!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The squirrels have given up,trying to get the seeds out
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We have crafty squirrels and they have found ways into "squirrel proof" feeders (weight balanced) and gobble up safflower seed they are supposed to hate. So far they have not found a way into the two globes I've hung and the song birds appear thankful for feeding in peace.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This feeder really does foil the squirrels. None have gotten into it at all. Even larger birds such as downy woodpeckers are able to access the food.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The birds in my yard LOVE this feeder! This morning, I saw a squirrel... on the ground, eating their leftovers. Where he should be.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Squirrels are very able. I added a wire across the cover which so far has kept the squirrels out. Next I expect them to try to knock the cage down from the tree (they've unwrapped my bungy cord before).
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This was a gift to my friend obsessed by his efforts to outsmart his resident squirrels. He'd gone at least 8 rounds, trying different things, losing every time. He reports that with THIS feeder, he and the birds are victorious.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Nice for birds, not squirrel proof
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I'm ok with this feeder. It was fun watching the squirrels try to get to the food. However, if they ever figure out, alls they have to do is wiggle the cage, all of the food would pour out of the tray on the bottom. Perhaps I should use larger birdseed and that would cut down on how much pours out on the bottom?? I do like the feeder, it nice to see the smaller birds have a safe place to eat but I feel like I have to fill the feeder more often than my other ones.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This feeder keeps out the big bully birds, e.g. starlings, jays.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The finches found it within 4 days and now 6 at a time are often safely enjoying it. The squirrels saw it first and though they circled the outside they never figured out how to get to the food! I wish that the partitions were slightly larger so the cardinals could share but otherwise I am very happy.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The product is exactly as ADVERTISED.It holds just sunflower seeds and works great. I would like to see the same unit with the center seed holder that will hold regular bird seed. That shouldn't be too hard to do.I purchased two and love them.
I have about 10 other feeders too. I like the looks and design of this feeder. It would be nice if the handle would stay uprite while placing it back on the hook (hanger)
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
High quality at avery good price point
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The lid that holds in the seed does not turn far enough; however, I solved that problem by using a strong little metal office clip to make sure the squirrels cannot get to the seed. It worked and I have happy birdies and frustrated squirrles.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I purchased this for a gift and the person that I purchased it for, thinks it is going to do very well for her as she has lots of trouble with squirrels getting her other feeders.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The only down side is it doesn't hold as much seed as I would like.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The little birds love this feeder! They don't have to compete now with the bigger birds and squirrels for seed out of the other feeders we have.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The number of wintering painted buntings has doubled since adding a second global cage feeder. The larger birds do try to feed at the cage but soon give up.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I love the idea that blue jays and other bullies
can't empty the feeder. I plan to buy another one in the future.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We installed this feeder adjacent to a thistle-seed feeder and a suet holder, all of which provide one-stop feeding for our small birds: chicadees, finches, nuthatches, and titmouse.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
All birds can access, but squirrels can not.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
So much fun to watch my little chickadees, finches and such enjoy a safe meal. Well made and sturdy structure that is easy to fill and looks great. Well worth ordering and waiting for.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Keeps the squirrels thinking. Small birds have
a good food supply.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Squirrels cannot get into caged area of feeder, but have twice figured out how to open top of feeder, dip his head in and feast. My husband has twice tried wiring it shut and the heavier duty wire seems to so far have kept the unwanted squirrels from breaking in.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I like to see the smaller birds get a chance to eat in peace
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
this is a nice looking feeder, but it is not squirrel proof. I had it hung only 1 week and the squirrels figured out how to get the top off and pig out.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I really like this feeder. The small birds do indeed go in and out safely. HOWEVER, it is not squirrel proof. The "lid" does not stay put - the squirrel immediately found a way to open it. I am trying to come up with a way to wire it closed but so far it is now just sitting in my garage unused. I was disappointed.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This bird feeder is definitely not squirrel proof. Although the wire cage is effective in keeping out all but baby squirrels, the fill lid is very loose (contrary to the item description), and squirrels easily remove it and dive head first into the seeds. Even with many variations on wrapping wire over the top, the squirrels still manage to get in. In the 2 months I have had the feeder up I have seen birds at it only twice. I would not recommend it for anyone with clever neighborhood squirrels.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The white-breasted nuthatches are just a little too big to use this feeder; that's the only disappointment!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This product is easy to set up and birds come to it in no time. We have this outside our front door which is all glass and I cannot believe the birds. All day long constant stream.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
It was a gift but looks really great! I haven't heard any feedback on upkeep but it seems pretty typical for bird feeders.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I received one for Christmas and immediately bought three more. I hang them from poles equipped with predator guards to keep the squirrels out. Remember there will be lots of sunflower seed hulls under the feeder so put it where you won't be walking a lot. [...] I think the knob on the lid should be changed to a square or hexagonal knob so you can grip it when wearing heavy gloves. I love this feeder!
Goldfinches love it

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The only problem that I have had with this feeder is the way the top latches. It needs a more positive locking mechanism to keep the most persistant squirrels from opening the seed chamber. We have had to wire the top in place and now we enjoy watching the squirrels try unsuccessfully to steal our bird seed.
A successful squirrel!!!
The birds love the new feeder.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The feeder hangs from a Dogwood tree we can see from our window. I have so many more small birds now, I know they feel safe. Thank you for an awesome product!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Thought this would be great for the birds.... it is not squirrel proof. The squirrels twisted the top right off and had a ball eating out of the top and left the empty seeds on top whole sunflower seeds... Would not recommend based on claim of squirrel proof!! They also hung from the bottom and reached in to the spilled seeds at the bottom plate..Birds never had a chance :(.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Like it except for not keeping out the smaller squirrels.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Bought this feeder to keep squirrels out.
Certainly works for that purpose, but none of my other birds are feeding at it. Must not have any really small ones.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
It really only seems to allow birds finch-sized or smaller, so even the sparrows aren't able to feed. I had hoped to allow all the smaller birds to feed.
It is nice, though, that the blue jays and other large birds can't bully the little birds to leave, and it has foiled the squirrels and chipmunks, which was our main goal.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I have had this feeder for five years, and love it! The small birds, finches, chickadees and other small birds feel safe...and the squirrels love it! Unfortunately, twice in as many weeks I have found a squirrel trapped as he was getting out....one was dead, and we rescued the other one today, by popping the wire and bending it. I'm not sure why after this many years this has happened twice, but we aren't going to put it back out until spring. The mesh at the bottom of the tube is rotted away, so I'm buying a new one---but can't take it when a squirrel gets trapped. Maybe because it has been such a tough winter...? Great feeder though, and I'm replacing it!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I love everything at Gardners supply.
Keep the really great stuff coming.
Thank you for everything I have bought
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I love watching the birds enjoy the black sunflower seed I put in this feeder. I mix it with some ground pepper flakes and do not have trouble with squirrels.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Needs to be more rainproof. A little more cover on top would save seeds during rain. Otherwise, very attractive and lightweight. Easy to fill. Perfect for small birds.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
all is mentioned in the above
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This feeder works exactly as advertised! Large birds and squirrels can't disturb the smaller birds. It's easy to fill, too.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
It is a great Feeder
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This is the best feeder, within minutes of hanging it, We had it full of the little birds, like chicadees and purple house finch.. they love it, and so do I, I only wish it were even bigger, i need to fill it every day..
great feeder

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I bought the Globe Bird Cage feeder for my husband. He loves to sit at the breakfast table and watch the birds feed. They fly in and out and they look like they're having a lovely time feeding. I have enough space, so I'm thinking about buying another. Great purchase.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Perfect for little birds, and the ground feeders eat the seeds that spill.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Fascinating to watch squirrel twist and unlatch top and then get stuck. Once you tweak your brain from the notion that the feeder exists only to feed birds but can also provide extra entertainment via squirrel watching, and that NOTHING is "squirrel-proof," it's just fine. Tiring soon of the squirrel, though, (and unstucking him), I moved the feeder to a place the squirrels cannot reach and saw a Common Redpoll...
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We have a large bush right under the kitchen window and it is a delight to work in the kitchen and observe the multitude of birds that like to feed in the protection of our large bush.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We hang it in the garden. We can see it grom the kitchen table. My grandchildren love to watch the birds go in and out. It is fun to watch a crow try to enter. Sorry, crow! You are not the right size!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The squirrels figured out how to open the lid so I have to wire it shut on my own every time I refill it.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
It really does keep the squirrels out of the birdfood. They have their own.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I really see the difference.
The little birds like it so I am happy to see that they feel safer from the pesty squirrels that eat every thing in sight
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
My husband loved the feeder.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I recently hung out this feeder in midwinter. No actual birds yet, but I've seen several squirrels try to get in and they just can't! Hope the birds will come in spring!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The squirrels loved it - it didn't even slow them down. They just removed the cap and went headfirst into the seed compartment in a furry feeding frenzy. I stopped that nonsense by improvising my own catch/latch to keep the squirrels from simply removing the loading hatch cover.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
the feeder grate is too big; many seeds fall out when loading
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
It really keeps the squirrels out! Yeah.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Perhaps I will do some close range spray painting
To "load up" the holes on the top half of the feeder tube so the sunflower seeds don't come out as easy, otherwise I have to fill it every other day. It's a great design and the birds feel like it is a "jungle jim" with a cafeteria! I love it!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I used this to keep blue jays away from the seed. It is also good for protecting the birds from my cats. The squirrels cannot get the top open, which is an added bonus. However, because of the openings in the seed cylinders, very small bird seed spills out when I'm filling it. So I changed to bigger seeds, but some of them cannot be pulled through the openings by the birds. A conventional cylinder inside the cage would work better, I think. Still, we are enjoying the product.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The holes are too big for the seeds we normally feed to finches.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
It has really added color and excitement to our morning coffee. Squirrels were discourage almost immediately and the chickadees, finches and buntings have kept us busy watching.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We love it. We've had ours for about five years and have given several as gifts. It's outside our kitchen window and we've wasted many hours standing at the sink watching the changing show. Best bird feeder we've ever had.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
the internal food sleeve requires use of more expensive, larger seed. if u use common bird seed, the seed POURS out from sleeve holes and dumps on the ground.
this item would be perfect if only the internal sleeve would be redesigned to accept smaller seed.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Couldn' do with out it
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This feeder is exactly what we needed to keep out the big black birds! Now we get to watch the little birds get their fill! Wonderful!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Holds a lot of food and squirrels haven't gotten in yet.Very attractive too. It is far from my house and I can easily see how full it is from my back door.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
It seemed to take awhile for the birds to get used to it but they eventually caught on.
I haven't seen a squirrel on it yet!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
You will find yourself buying bigger bags and more often with this feeder. My main reason for the purchase was this protects your smaller birds and some stay in this feeder open feeder.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I think the feeder is well worth the purchase price.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I loved this product, it was soooo cool. The birds love it too. Everyone takes notice to my Globe feeder. It is really a unique product, something different not found in any of the stores. It is also very durable as well as sooo easy to clean. I was very pleased!!! I also purchased one as a gift this year. I have been telling everyone gardeners.com. It's Awesome!!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This was purchased as a gift and was very well received. Now the little birds have a fighting chance at the feed.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I gave this to my son as a gift and he was thrilled. It is very sturdy and works great to keep out squirrels and larger birds.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We enjoy watching the birds go inside of the feeder. It is sturdy and attractive.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
It does keep the big bully birds out, and let's the little ones in, but the tube in the center has no lining. the holes in it, let all the seed fall out. Will have to figure out some sort of flexible plastic to line it.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Easy to hang, no assembly was a plus
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I got this for my Mom as a christmas gifts because the large birds are always chasing the smaller ones away from her other feeders. She was very pleased - as the little birds will be -- with her gift. [...]
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The chickadees, finches, and juncos love this feeder, but the squirrels found it oh so easy to jump, cling, and eat from the bottom, upside down and cute, but nevertheless greedy.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Has been great for sunflower (black oil) and crushed peanut feeding. My crafty squirrels easily take the top off. I found that twisting some copper wire around the lid knob and then to each side of the cage has stumped the squirrels. Very durable as I have dropped it countless times.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
My mother did not want a new bird feeder but she resented feeding the squirrels. Her feeder is off a 20' deck (second story) and the squirrels managed amazing acrobats to get to the bird seed. Since she installed the Globe Cage bird feeder she hasn't had any problems! She is thrilled to keep the squirrels off the deck and in the back yard.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I am thoroughly satisfied with this feeder -- and so are the birds!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The latching lid does not snap into place. Quite easy to detach and will need an additional fastener
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I bought this as a Christmas present for my housebound father. He's wanted birdfeeders for the yard but has always been concerned that the cats and squirrels would attack the small birds. I thought this was the answer since the tiny birds can climb inside to eat in peace. Unfortunately, the feeder tube is like a sieve for small bird feed and the mix pours right through. How can a bird feeder intended for small birds not be designed to hold feed mixed for small birds? Major design flaw! I'll try black sunflower seed and hope that will take care of it, but this design issue could be easily remedied in the manufacturing and should never have been authorized with this problem. The feeder tube is not removable so you can't cover it with screening and take care of the problem yourself. While the packaging doesn't relate directly to the feeder, the manufacturer really should consider it since it speaks to marketing. [...]In all, for this product to be worthwhile, the manufacturer needs to revise the feeder tube design so a feeder made for small birds holds mix made for small birds.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
A great Xmas gift for a bird lover.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Last longer
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The chickadees were on this feeder before I even made it back into the house. They love perching on it and eating from it. I haven't seen any of the stellar jays even try to eat from this feeder.
There are two downsides, however: 1) the actual seed holder is made of wire mesh with medium-sized openings. So, small bird seed cannot be used with this feeder. Even some sunflower seeds fall through the mesh when the feeder is being filled. 2) in wet and windy climes the feeder will have to be positioned carefully in order to protect against excessive seed soaking, since construction does not provide extensive protection against the weather.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We hung one under the eaves, just outside the window closest to our TV-watching positions. Commercials come on: it's time for the birds.
The second one we hung 20 feet out from our 2nd-floor deck, about 15 feet high. Thr birds feel so safe they will totally ignore us as 5-10 will visit in rotation. We keep the bird book handy.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The item shows yellow finches feeding at the Globe Cage. The birdseed that the container holds is for other smaller birds but too large for the yellow finch (who loves thistle which is too small for the container).
That disappointed me at first....But many other birds have enjoyed the seed and I have been delighted watching them.

It's a nice feeder, sturdy well-built and keeps the squirels out. Only drawback is that the seed hopper could have a larger capacity.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Hung on a squirrel proof frame open to weather, without a rain dome seeds get wet. Hanging loop too large to allow plastic rain dome to nest required some modification of loop, that also affects the removal of the cap for filling. When filling the seed falls outside and requires a funnel to fill with minimum spilling.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Hung it on a back yard tree in December...the finches flocked to it in less than one week!!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I bought one last year and it has attracted so many smaller birds that I bought the second one. In the spring, the young birds can get in the cage feel protected.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I can't make comments yet because I just received the feeder but I did have one problem. I filled the feeder with thistle feed. I live in a very windy area and the feed was blown off the tray and in a few days all the feed was gone. With larger/heavier feed this does not happen.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
They love it because it keeps the squirrels out.
We're going to get one too for that very reason.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We have the feeded in a dogwood tree just outside our kitchen window. The colorful assortment of finches each day is wonderful. So far, it is very squirrel proof.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
My husband & I love the Globe Cage Feeder. We totally enjoy watching the birds feed. It was fun watching a squirrel trying to open the top. Finally, the smart squirrel opened it! My husband took a wire hanger and made a loop to keep the opening closed. Worked perfectly ~ now it is squirrel proof. You might add something like that to its design.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
During a large snowstorm the small birds continued to use the feeder and the squirrels and large birds tried but couldn't get to the seed.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Fill it and hang it; the birds will flock to it. Attracks small song birds, chickadees, finches, downy woodpeckers, junkos, etc. Holds plenty of seed and looks great!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
bought for a gift but plan to order one for myself later! exactly as advertised

It's a bird feeder
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I use this bird feeder to attract the smaller birds. The ones who have to fight for food in our big bird feeder. They can just squeak in and get what they need. The only negative is that I can't fill it fast enough. The birds will empty it in a day!!!! But what fun to watch them. We have given the same feeder to many on our gift list.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Seed screening too large to hold thistle or nyger seed. The seed just falls to the ground.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The birds love this feeder and we love the look of it in our garden.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I have never written a review but was so impressed with this birdfeeder that it compelled me to do so. We have very aggressive squirrels and after my husband made a tiny adjustment to lock the top cap--this birdfeeder is squirrel-proof and the beautiful yellow finches are back!!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We had been really frustrated with starlings, blue jays and crows taking over many of our bird feeders. They would scare away the more desirable nuthatches, goldfinches, titmice, chickadees and the like. We are so happy with this feeder because those big bullies have no access!!

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I purchased this feeder to replaced the one on my deck that an industrious squirrel had destroyed. While there was a lot of seed spilled out of this one when I filled it, the seeds stay in it if you have the right kind. Mine is kind of a mixture of large and small seeds so the small seeds tend to sift out as the big seeds get pulled out.
I don't mind the seed spill though because the seed that falls on the ground is then consumed by the larger birds that can't get into the feeder including a pair of cardinals who often visit me.
The tiny birds that get into the globe feeder are adorable. Today I had ten or more birds all on my deck enjoying the seed inside the cage as well as the spill-off. We had our first snow so I suspect they were happy for the easy lunch.
The squirrels still sometimes come by to cause trouble but they can't chew into this one. I've seen them hanging upside-down on the globe by their back feet snagging some of the seed from the tray under the feeder's cylinder. My daughter thinks it's funny but will chase the squirrels away when she sees them now that she knows how destructive they can be.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Complaints about the top coming off can easily be
fixed by taking a simple long plastic coated wire tie and attaching to each wire rung running across
the top to hold in place.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This is a great feeder at keeping the 'feeder hogs' away. I wish the cage had slightly lager holes (one -quarter inch larger) so mid-size birds could feed. You will need a secure hanging system because squirrels will try to bring the feeder to the ground by jumping on it again and again. I have a closed hook system where they can not do this. i mix my own seed and feed with a mix of peanuts, black oil sunflower, dried mealy worms, and a millet mix. This has proven very successful as I have seen a very wide variety of birds, including downy woodpeckers, red headed woodpeckers, and titmice to name a few. This is the second feeder I've purchased. I use one for suet and the new one for seed and hang them side by side.
Happy birding!!

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I like the idea of this feeder, but the mesh of the center container for the birdseed is too open and the seeds spew out all over the place. The catch area at the bottom is not big enough to hold the spill so a lot of seeds end up on the ground when you try to fill this feeder. Since ordering this, I've seen other feeders with smaller mesh for the seed containers. Otherwise, you have to use only sunflower seeds or find special expensive larger birdseed that won't spill through the mesh so badly. I'm not sure if the small birds this feeder is made for would eat the larger seeds though.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Very sturdy construction. Now, the small birds have a place to eat without larger birds chasing them off. Very attractive too. LOVE IT!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
There seemed to be alot of waste of the seeds, perhaps I used the wrong king, but in a day or two it was all on the ground, but the birds and quail cleaned it all up.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Great for keeping those pesky blue jays out so the smaller colorful birds I like to watch out my window can feed in peace! Nice & attractive, very easy to fill.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We are filling them every day. The birds are in them all the time. At any given time there can be five different types of birds eating.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
A very persistent squirrel took the lid off and reached in to help himself. I moved it and secured the lid. It was fun watching him do it though. This is a sturdy feeder that is worth every penny! The smallest birds don't have to compete with the larger guys. They hop in, sit on the floor and eat to their little hearts content. Some cling to the hopper to eat. I love watching them.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This was a perfect addition to our bird feeders. We wanted to keep one feeder off-limits to the larger birds, who often scare off the smaller birds and take all the bird seed.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I only have it in use for a few weeks, so far, I see no cons. By lowering height of feeder, it attracts bigger variety of small birds. It seems constantly busy. Great addition to a nice garden.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This feeder is perfect because you can feed all of the smaller birds without them getting bullied out by the larger birds who throw seed everywhere and make a mess.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I bought one, then bought another, then bought two more for family. It truly keeps squirrels and larger birds out. Little birds like to camp out in the globe. very durable and fun!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We are snowbirds ourselves and use this in Arizona during the winter months. The small song birds love it without interference by the larger doves, but the doves benefit from the seeds that end up on the ground.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I bought one for my elderly Mom last Christmas and set it up outside her window. She enjoys watching the birds so much I had to get one for my backyard! It is so easy to fill and the small song birds are fun to watch. I hung it from a garden plant hook pole - no squirrel problems. Love it!

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The small birds love them and the larger birds cannot get to the seed.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I have this hanging on an arm hook off my deck and enjoy watching the little birds feeding and the blue-jays who cannot get to the seed! Very entertaining! This is a great product!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Just what I have wanted, perfect. I will be buying more of them for myself and gifts..The price was excellant. Thank you.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I love seeing the little birds enjoying their food. I wish there was a "little" water feeder for them --which the big birds and squirrels couln't access.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I am very happy with this bird feeder. I hung it from a tree branch, and the squirrels and raccoons have been unable to gain access! I may just buy a few more!!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
we have this hanging in the back yard and both the birds and the kids love it! The squirrels can not get at it! - it is a wonderful feeder.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Black oiler seed falls out when birds shake feeder. Inside grid needs to be a bit smaller to hold seed better. Other part of design is good for keeping squirrels out.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The seed tray is too small and needs to be larger to prevent seed loss from the seed holder unit.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Small birds are immediately attractive to this feeder, and their variety and movements give us much pleasure as we watch them feed. HOWEVER, squirrels and perhaps other animals have figured out how to open the top even when it is properly closed. I recommend a snug top that must be pulled out rather than one that can be turned. I have had to string wire around and under the top to prevent it from being opened.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The squirrels can get seeds out of the bottom of this feeder if they can reach it, but otherwise it really is squirrel proof!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This is very nice looking and the birds really seem to enjoy it.

A piece of junk
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We have very agressive squirrels and I am happy to report that to date the birds are enjoying this feeder and the squirrels haven't figured it out.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I was looking for a feeder that would keep the bully birds and squirrels from hogging all the seed. This feeder fills the bill. No assembly required - just hang, fill, and watch the birds flock to it! I use only black oil sunflower seed, and have no trouble with it staying in the feeder. Yes, initially some seed falls into the small tray area, but once the tube is filled the seed stays put. The first day I put it out on one of my deck hangers, the birds found it within the hour and it's been a popular hangout since! The chickadees, titmice, finches and red breasted nuthatches love it! No squirrels so far, so we'll see. I am very pleased and am thinking of ordering a second one.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Great that the globe feeder only allows smaller birds ... like that it keeps larger birds out and especially squirrels! Also like that it holds a good amount of seed.I'm thinking about buying anohter one for a different area of my yard.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
squirrels, jays, grackels, etc. come but they can't get to the seed. Only the small birds can get in. I only use sunflower seed now and it holds it well and don't waste any. Use it year round. Many different birds come to feed from it. Love it!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This year was very dry, so I began feeding birds early. Feeder was easy to set up and looks good, but the mess around the seed container in the middle was not small enough for small seeds needed by small birds. When filling the container alot of the smaller seeds would fall to the ground and out of the bird feeder. I used a wild bird seed mix. Would be good for some types of bird seed.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This feeder accepts only black oil sunflower seeds, which are fairly large. It does NOT accept regular bird seed. At our house it attracted only chickadee's but no goldfinches.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Hung in the garden easy set up fun to watch.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This feeder works really well with sunflower seeds. It attracts a variety of birds and the squirrels have left it alone on a Shepard's hook. I do wish the mesh where the seed goes was a little smaller so a thistle mix for finches could be used.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The birds seem to really enjoy this feeder I just cannot figure out what type of seed to fill it with. Most of whatever I put in falls out, or when the birds land on it the seed falls to the ground.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Keeps out squirrels and big birds
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This is not what I thought it was on the inside. I think I'll have a rough time feeding the smaller birds as I usually don't buy sunflower seeds! Holes are too large for just regular bird seed.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We love this feeder and we now have two. It is so fun to watch the birds throughout the year eating from this feeder. It is even fun to watch small squirrels squeeze inside and actually sit down to eat the sunflower seeds. It attracts all the small birds and several eat at the same time. You won't be disappointed in this feeder.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Works great. Keeps the small birds happy and the big birds and squirrels frustrated. Would like to see more bird feeders to select.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I was spending a fortune filling my birdfeeder every other day (feeding squirrels, not birds). This new feeder seems to be squirrel-proof, and my yard is now the new hangout for many different species of birds. I am very pleased with this product.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
It is so interesting to watch the birds go in and out. It's one of the first things people comment on when they visit our home.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This bird feeder is the perfect choice for keeping big bully birds out! I've tried a lot of feeders for song birds, but the big birds always seemed to know how to get to the seed and scare the little birds away. I love to see a variety of song birds sharing the same space - I've counted up to 8 birds eating in this feeder at the same time!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I loved this bird feeder until the entire bottom rusted out of it and the feeding tube fell out. The squirrels were deterred but figured a way to hang onto the side of this feeder and shake the seeds to the edge of the feeder so they could get them.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The feeder is for small birds that like thistle seed, but the thistle seed is too small and falls right OUT of the feeder. Can someone recommend the type of seed to put into this feeder....maybe a small sunflower seed?
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Finally, a feeder that keeps out the squirrels and large birds. The wrens and finches are thrilled. I think they're laughing at the starlings!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Perfect! A product that does what it advertises!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We bought this feeder because the grackles were going through the food in our existing feeder in about 2 days. This new feeder is great for small birds, and so far it has kept out the gray squirrels, too.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This is the perfect feeder. I am no longer feeding the big birds that I don't want hanging around my yard. The finches and chickadees can now eat undisturbed.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Our blackbirds are very determined to eat from this feeder. I ended up weaving metal screen in the bottom two rows because the birds hung upside down and put their head thru the openings and ate off the bottom. Also, they could eat thru the top row so filled up to that point. Otherwise, it is the best I have found.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The songbirds love this feeder and it keeps the squirrels away pretty well, especially if you hang it from a long chain. The lip did not fix tight and would come off when birds would use it, often causing them to fly away. I fixed this problem simply by bending the taps inside the lid to an angle until the matched up with the top to the globe feeder. Now the birds can fly in and out and eat until their heart is content!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The feeder is a good size and my Yellow finches
like this feeder.
I drilled a hole through the top of the feeder to
accept a set-screw to secure from squirrels before
hanging. Squirrels can hang on the side of the feeder and get seeds from the bottom section of the feeder.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I love the bird feeder. I have been trying to attract chickadees but they have never stayed around because of the more aggressive bigger birds. This feeder allows small birds to feed and keeps big birds out. The yellow finches love it too. I looked everywhere for something like this, they were all too expensive. Yours is perfect.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
It took to birds awhile to figure it out but they love the feeder and it's fun to watch them

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This product arrives fully assembled. The top is very easy to open and close...no fumbling with screwing or unscrewing lids or trying to hold it between your knees while you pour sunflower seeds in. This is a great bird feeder and is a favorite of the yellow finches already, as well as nuthatches and chickadees. A+

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I like the look of the feeder, very nice. It took a while for the smaller birds to figure out the shape and does keep out the squirrels. The larger birds were not happy but did get the seeds that dropped. Perhaps a larger bottom pan to catch the spilled seed.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
After the birds figured out how to get in and out of it, they flock to it. I needed to add a baffle under it, as the chipmunks were able to crawl up the pole and leap across to it. Now it's just the birds who enjoy it and we love seeing them duck in and out.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Only problem is the way the lid id made. My squirrels have figured out how to open it!

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I've always had problems with squirrels and starlings, etc. at my feeders. This feeder accommodates all the small birds and ,so far, not one problem. I love it!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Its works great and the larger birds who tend to dig all the seeds out in other feeders cannot get into this one. Squirrels also cannot get into it. Only the smaller birds such as finches can get into it
[3 of 3 customers found this review helpful]
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This feeder actually makes it EASIER for squirrels to get in. Instead of hanging upside down on a traditional feeder, our squirrels just jump inside and have a nice cozy place to sit while eating.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Seems to keep the squirrels out and lets the small birds feed in peace. Attractive and easy to use.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
At first, the birds were afraid of it, but once some of them tried it, the others followed. The squirrels are able to get to the seed on the bottom "pan", but after that is gone, they seem to leave it alone.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Woould be better if top were to screw on like a jar top as we have had squirrels turn the top to get into the sunflower seed. Other wise we love it as the above hasn't happened often.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The feeder is easy to fill open and close.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
My cats and I can now enjoy watching the variety of small birds that come and feed and that aren't chased away by the blue jays, cardinals and squirrels.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I've been looking for an item like this for a while. I had a similar feeder which I used to hold woodpecker mix; however, the squirrels kept eating all the nuts and seeds. This feeder keeps the squirrels out but allows downy woodpeckers, chickadees, wrens and nuthatches in. I've also seen red-bellied woodpeckers at the feeder. They can't fit their entire body through the cage, but they can fit their heads in far enough to grab the food in their bills. The only thing that could be improved is to make the holes in the feeder cylinder a little larger. The birds have to break up a lot of the nuts before they can get them through the small holes.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Easy to fill. Squirrel-proof and durable
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The globe feeder does keep out the large birds like grackles and blue jays. the down side is that when filling it a lot of seed spills out. If the mesh in the column was a little smaller I think it would be a 5 star product. Mike V. Erie Pa.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
good
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I have put it up but the small birds are not using it much. The big birds can not get in.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Since they aren't the brightest bulbs, the squirrels still check out the feeder, in case the old one returns, but quickly give up.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The holes are too large to add finch food to the bird cage. Picture in magazine is showing Finches feeding from the full container, that is impossible. Very misleading. I am very disappointed.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This product is perfect for the Painted Buntings that winter here. The design does discourage squirrels from feeding on it. They try and soon move on.
Backyard bird bullies seem quite annoyed that they can't get to the seed, but soon go to the other feeder. It is sturdy and very easy to maintain. I plan to have another one available to the PBs for the next winter migration season.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Easy to fill, attractive to look at, birds just seem to love it
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Small birds loved it right away. No Squirrels or black birds could get at the food and they
decided to leave my yard. I rarely see any at all.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The birds are very comfortable flying in and out of the grids. It saves seed by not feeding unwanted black birds. Smaller birds have a chance to eat without a lot of competition from larger birds. I bought this feeder for my parents who enjoy it so much, I bought one for myself!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This awesome feeder is near our patio where we sit morning and evening watching little birds feed. What a joy to have something that the little species can get into so they have their share of the feed!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
A great feeder.... have to be careful of the snow collecting in it, otherwise it works just fine, and keeps the larger scavengers out so that the smaller birdies have a chance. I love it so much that I purchased a second one for a friend. It also frustrates the hell out of the squirrels!!!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Great feeder for the birds but I did have to anchor the lid of my last one which is the same. The squirrels figured out the lid but after securing, no problems and the birds love it.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This seems to be safe from squirrels, Western Scrub Jays, starlings, and crows, but a raccoon can get into them if they are not hung on a slim branchlet that is too lightweight to hold a raccoon's weight.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Because we have so many Red Winded Black birds I had to add 2 wraps of wire at the bottom and 1 at the top to keep the large birds from sticking their heads thru the openings. A hot glue gun was used to attach the additional wire wraps. Now the smalls birds enjoy it with out interference.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This is just what I expected. Sure keeps the blackbirds out.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
There is a design problem. Squirrels can reach the seeds in the tray without much difficulty. Maybe if the tray were higher up in the cylinder, the sunflower seeds would be less accessible.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
It's perfect!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Not only is this a functional feeder, it is so cool to have hanging in a tree. We put ours in a weeping cherry tree and now that it is in full bloom, it is like the finches have their own private dining room!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Having the bale attach to the feeder means that if the lid fails, the feeder doesn't fail and can still be hung. I am not concerned about it not holding thistle seed. My finches sees very happy to eat sunflower seeds. My free range chickens also like the seed that is tossed out by the birds! I don't have to mow under any of these feeders. I have 4 of them and love them.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The look is attractive and the outer globe does allow small birds in while keeping larger birds & rodents out. HOWEVER, the holes in the screen which contains the food are too large to hold thistle seed (food for yellow finches). So the product is useless...
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I got this feeder to give to my dad for Christmas. This has gotten him interested in watching birds. He has enjoyed them very much. This is a very low maintenance feeder that is easy to fill and easy to clean. It is very pretty too and matches my dad's house perfectly! Thanks!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I bought this for my father and he absolutely is enjoying watching the birds eat and laughing at the way the squirrels try to get into the seed without any success. He says he has spent hours watching and laughing! Worth every penny! :-)
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Great for the small birds. Keeps the bluejays out.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I received my Globe Feeder recently and discovered that a very clever squirrel, who obviously loved a challenge, proved that it was nt as resistant as I had hoped. It opened the top and was having a good feast until it heard me. You should have seen how fast it acked out of there!
I had hung it underneath a dome and the squirrel had to leap sideways off a tree branch to reach the Globe. So it was really clever,It was probably desperate as well due to an unusually deep snow here in Virginia.
Enclosed are photos of squirrel inside globe and of my modification. As you can see, it chewed the black coating off the wire down to the copper after the modification.
This was a amusing experince and I wonder if anyone else has reported a similar incident.
Yours Sincerely
Claude A. Broughton
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
It's so interesting compared to ordinary feeders. Watching the birds figure out how to use (and they do) it is so entertaining.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
OUR OTHER FEEDERS FREQUENTLY GET TAKEN OVER BY THE BLUE JAYS SO ITS NICE TO HAVE SOMETHING THAT EXCLUDES THEM
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I love this Globe cage feeder. I'll continue to give this as a gift for special occasions.
Anyone who enjoys observing small, colorful birds will be elated. This is for the birds..the best feeder!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I was disappointed to see that it was made in China.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Birds love it, but it did not take long for the squirrels to figure out how to open it. I have to use a flexible piece of clothesline wire to wire the top on. I suggest that the top be redesigned to screw in. Otherwise, it is attractive and attracts a lot of small birds.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I bought this as a christmas present for my boyfriends parents who have tons of birds with the problem of squirrels. Turns out the squirrels fit perfectly in the globe and actually have problems getting out after feasting on the bird seed.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I was looking for something where the birds would have a chance at the seed before the squirrels got it all and this works wonderfully. The squirrels completely ignore it and the little birds at least get a chance at something to eat. The lid is a little difficult to get off but I eventually get it and the squirrels could never get at it like that so it doesn't bother me.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Delighted with the product. Definitely keeps the greedy jays out. Small birds figured it out right away. Only drawback is that the seed container is an open basket, rather than a plastic cylinder. I will use it less in rainy weather because the seed can get soggy. The open basket also makes filling it a bit messy, but I will figure that one out. It would be good if the "basket" word was used in the catalog description.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Absolutely stopped squirrels and blue jays
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Bought this as a gift for my parents in upstate NY who have other feeders and were constantly chasing off jays and crows to give the little birds a chance. It took a couple of days for them to get used to it, but now the nuthatches, finches, and titmice get their fair share while the big birds use the other feeders.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Works well since I fastened top with a chain to stop my squirrels from taking the top off. I also added a baffle to my pole to keep out the chip-munks. One plus is that I have an entertaining video of a squirrel removing the top before I secured it. My rating would go up if the top is made more secure. I would recommend it to a friend but include a warning about the top.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Really works; allows the yellow finches, small birds to feed, and keeps the blackbirds out.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Among the best feeder I have used over the years.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We used safflower seeds in ours. We normally have a problem with squirrels, and so far they have left it alone. The birds seem to love it. Too soon to say if it is durable, but looks to be. Looks very attractive hanging on a large hook in the yard. Would buy again.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This seems to do just what I was looking for. It gives the smaller birds a chance to get some food ahead of the squirrels. Though the lid did not look to me like it would be squirrel proof, so far they have not bothered this feeder, or hung around it. That in my book means squirrel proof. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 is that while I have no proof it won't be durable, it is fairly light weight, and I worry it won't be. I would definitely still recommend this to a friend.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We bought this for my in-laws and they have loved watching the birds feed off it. It has attracted nuthatches, sparrows, and other small birds
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We have been bombarded with huge flocks of black birds. They storm the feeders, devour the seeds and drive the sparrows and goldfinches away. But NO MORE! They can't get to the seeds with this feeder. The small birds can feed in peace and it seems to me they're thumbing their beaks at the big birds. We love this feeder and plan to buy more of them. Thanks!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Not really pretty like the Victorian Feeder with Pole stand, but that stand is flimsy. Effective, and the birds don't care about the lack of "cuteness".
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The cage is hanging on a swing arm from the deck railing. It was a bit difficult for birds to retrieve the black oil sunflowers from the size hardware cloth. I've substituted sunflower nibs and pieces. While some leak out, the birds seem to be happy, both in the feeder and below.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
So excited to find such a good lucking bird feeder that keeps away the squirrels!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
So far, so good -- the squirrels have tried to get into it but, so far, no luck. However, my neighbor says they've figured out hers -- we hope for the best.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This is a great small bird feeder. Small birds love it. Looks good too. And their antics cause some seed to spill to the ground to the delight of ground-feeding cardinals.
However, the opening cap at the top of the cylinder does _not_ prevent squirrels from removing the cap and feeding upon the entire contents of birdseed in the cylinder! It doesn't take much for an "inventive" squirrel to remove that cap.
To prevent further squirrel feasts, I tied-down the cap w/ a piece of small flexible wire; thus, no more squirrel problem. I believe, though, that the faulty cap situation should be taken care of by the manufacturer not the buyer.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The birds like this feeder, it's easy to fill even in bad weather. I haven't seen any squirels around. Drain holes in the bottom are not large enough.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This is almost perfect: the squirrels were very frustrated until they learned how to open the top and then they sat there and dined! I secured it with a large paper clip and some needle-nose pliers but they were able to twist it loose and open it again. I now wire it shut so tightly it takes me ten minutes, and the pliers, to open it to re-fill - still, it's better than anything else I've found.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This does keep the larger birds out and lets the smaller birds get some seeds.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Excellent choice to keep the larger birds out and cater to the smaller birds.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Keeps the big birds out.. which is what I was looking for.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I like the looks of it and the squirrels haven't yet gotten into it but neither have many birds. Time will tell,I bought 2,1 for myself and 1 as a gift.I should ask the gift recipient how it is working out for her.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
It's a pretty feeder without the birds. Add the birds, & it's a delight! I have it suspended under a balcony and it's extremely popular. My indoor cats are entertained as well! A bear snagged it once, and the inner mesh was bent a bit, but the outer globe was undamaged. A great feeder all around.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I gave this as a gift and received positive feedback. It took the little birds a while to catch onto it, but once a chickadee tried it, others, including a downy woodpecker, followed.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Our pesky resident squirrel has finally been frustrated! And even when the feeder is empty (the birds love this thing),it is an attractive addition to our yard. We love it!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
It's too small for the birds in Miami. They try to get to the seeds, but it's impossible. I thought it would work to keep out the squirrels, which it does, but it doesn't let birds in. Maybe up north the birds are smaller. It is attractive though.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I love that it keeps the big birds out.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We haven't had any problems with squirrels getting to the seed. Took a while forthe birds to figure out; they'd land on outside globe and flutter around until they figured out to go "inside" for the seed. Now we're enjoying all the activity outside the window.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This product was purchased as a gift for an avid bird lover. It turned out to be a little larger than I expected, but she loves it. I would definitely purchase another one.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I gave this to my husband for Christmas and it was a hit. It's unique and attractive in the window, and our birds--finches, chickadees, and red-breasted nuthatches took to it right away. Every once in a while I will spot a little downy woodpecker inside, too. The blue jays and the seed-throwing hairy woodpeckers and red squirrels have left it alone so far! I think I will get two more for other family members. Great item!
The globe feeder is a popular dining spot.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I really like this feeder, at first the squirrels were not successful in getting the seed. But the top is too easily removed-it should have a better closure. I've had to wrap metal wire around it to keep them from taking the top off.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This feeder has a great design for selectively feeding small birds. However, small seeds pour through the wire mesh. Larger seeds, such as safflower and sunflower, are retained better. Even so, expect most of the seed to end up on the ground
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Gave this as a Christmas gift to a friend. She seems delighted with it and it works well for her.

Attractive birdfeeder for the yard. The birds love it & the squirrels are kept away.

Great - but latch needs to be more foolproof for our very smart squirrels!

the shape is pleasing to the eye out my breakfast nook windows.......the small birds of all colors are safely enjoying the feast daily
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
in just a few days we've gotten some great birds using the feeder.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This feeder attracts all the right birds - I have seen five or six of them in the globe at the same time. The fun part is watching the squirrels try to get in - this is something I will buy more of in the future for other parts of my yard!

squirrel proof almost

I just love this bird feeder and so do the birds. The pesky squirrels are not happy so that makes it perfect!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Pumpkin seeds and other medium sized seeds will fit nicely in the mesh. Sturdy metal. I'm going to hang a clear squirrel baffle a few inches above it to keep the seeds dry. It's very good price for the product.

Combined this with other feeder on double shepherd's hook outside window. Many kinds of small birds can access but squirrels, so far, have not succeeded. Have seen nine small birds feeding at once. Other feeder cares for robins, cardinals and medium birds. Easy to clean & refill, normally, but latch must be struck to free in winter ice. Good buy for our climate.

This is an awesome feeder. It's fun to watch the squirrels try to get into it. They can only get food off the bottom tray. The little birds go right inside. We love it!!! I bought one for Grandpa and one for Dad for Christmas and we love em!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
the one change i'd make is that the central tube feeder's grids are kind of large to hold the types of seeds that the finches/chickadees like best. this feeder would NOT work for nyjer and is touch-and-go with sunflower pieces - many fall out on to the ground during feeder filling and while birds feed, attracting squirrels to the area underneath.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Design is both durable and attractive. Birds love it and squirrels haven't figured it out, in more than a year. Only flaw is that the inner screen tube that holds the seed has large openings, so some smaller seed spills, particularly during filling. Best with sunflower seeds and other larger seeds.

While we love this product, the raccoons can remove the lid to access the food, so we take it in each evening. But this is our second purchase (after the raccoons destroyed the first!)of this product so we must love it!
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
This is good for the smaller birds, but the Cardinals are too big, which is too bad b/c we have a lot of them in our yard.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
I tried to explain about the locking tabs that hold the lid on. When it is snowing or raining, the tabs just are too much trouble to lock in place and then get out of the weather. Otherwise, this is a great feeder and it does keep out the big birds and the squirrels. So I would still rate this product
great!

We just bought one of these for a gift for my dad because we love our own so much. There's no other feeder on the market like it that we've found. We did add a wire to secure the lid since some persistent squirrels can open the top. But aside from that, except for their hanging upside down and slowly getting one seed at a time with their paw from the bottom plate you'll find that squirrels won't plow through this feeder like other supposedly squirrel-proof feeders. Its shape is also so attractive we leave it hanging in the summer even though we don't put seed in it during those months. Trust me, you won't find another feeder like this one - if you get this feeder you will love it!

The little birds love the feeder. The squirrels try very hard to get to the food, but wind up providing me with entertainment watching them hang up-side-down.

Got it for a friend who was very pleased & looking to keep the squirrels out. They quickly found out how to open the top and dump the contents on the ground. That's one for urban squirrels.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
We have grey squirrels and it did not take long for them to figure out how to get the top off and then their paws into the feeding tube. They have prevented any birds from wanting to come and feed.

This is a visually striking bird feeder, very nice addition to my parent's garden. Unfortunately, as the enclosed picture shows, it is also a great Squirrel feeder.
Awwww, Breakfast!

I have many feeders for the birds....but I like the ones nearer my windows to look nice but still useful. This fits the bill. Thanks

I live in the woods and have a lot of squirrels and hawks. This feeder does keep the larger birds out, though not your small, wily squirrel. It's easy to fill and fairly easy to clean. The lid did not close firmly after a while and the squirrels figured that out. I rigged it with spring and now it's fine. My only complaint is that after a year or two, the bottom starts to rust and the bottom of the cage that holds the seed disintegrates letting the seed poor out, which the squirrels have also noticed and now they hang on it to tip the seed out. This is my second one and I bought my mom one for Christmas. For the price, you can afford to replace it when it gets too bad.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Squirrels are a real nuisance where we live, so any feeder that keeps them out is appreciated. This feeder was larger than I expected it to be, sturdy, and easy to fill and and hang. We have other globe/cage style feeders that are more attractive, but this feeder is not unattractive, and it serves its purpose very well. We have it hung in the dining room window where we can watch the finches, nuthatches, and chickadees all day.

Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
Seed falls everywhere. Birds just shake the seed onto the ground / deck / everywhere. No squirls but very messy.
Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:
The chickadees quickly figured this out while the finches were stymied for several days, they also learned how to use this one. The jays and flickers are shut out and finding other places to terrorize. The feeder seems to work well with sunflower seed. It should be hung higher than deer height, however, to prevent them from tipping it over.

I love this feeder! It took one full day of my little birds looking at this feeder to decide it was worth trying and now I have many many little birds waiting to take a turn at emptying the feeder! We love to watch them! I am so happy with it that I purchased 3 more and gave 2 as Christmas gifts!

can't wait to see if it inhibits the crows from chasing away the little ones in feeding.
