    Comments about Fruit Feeder:

I placed apples and oranges on the two feeders that were purchased and noticed that the birds readily ate the apples but did not touch the oranges. Thus, I have not placed any more oranges on the fruit feeder and will wait until the weather warms up before I try the oranges again.I wish there was some way to prevent the piece that holds the fruit from coming apart after the fruit has been eaten by the birds. I had to hunt for them in the grass on the ground [...]

    Poor packaging
By GrandmaVerified Reviewer from Bluffton, SC on 11/29/2010

    Comments about Fruit Feeder:

I purchased this to give as a gift, and was very disappointed in the plain brown box the feeder came in. There was no photo nor diagram to explain how to assemble or what it should look like with the fruit in place. If it had been sent as is, as a surprise, the recipient would have no idea what it was. Luckily I saw it first, and was able to include a picture from the catalog. As I am giving this as a gift, I do not yet know whether the feeder will be successful.

    Comments about Fruit Feeder:

While I was really excited about this method of feeding the local birds (the seeds is just too much of a mess), I have yet to see any bird interested in my feeder. My husband also had to use silicone the ceramic bird to the feeder, as it would have fallen if left outdoors.

By Julie BeanVerified Purchaser from Minneapolis, MN on 7/6/2010
    Pros:
    Attractive
    Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Fruit Feeder:

There is no way to load this feeder without having a lot of contact with the fruit. Hence, the user gets sticky fingers while trying to get the center prong into place. Cumbersome "operation" to load fruit. I imagine I will discard the feeder soon.

    Comments about Fruit Feeder:

I really like this feeder. It is something you don't see very often and very attractive with the realistic looking bird on top, so I have had quite a few comments from friends. There is only one way to correctly "load" the fruit, so be ready to reload your fruit a couple of times untill you get used to it. A great way to get rid of your fruit that is starting to go bad.

    Comments about Fruit Feeder:

It was a good thing I opened the box before I gift wrapped it! There was nothing inside to tell the recipient what it was or how to use it. I clipped the picture from the catalog and taped it to the feeder. The feeder seemed a bit frail for what was to hang and be pulled from it, but my friend will probably not mention it, so I will not know.

    Describe Yourself:

    Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Fruit Feeder:

The decorative bird is made of unglazed clay and must be taken off in cold weather. Hole in bird where it sits is poorly crafted, and I don't expect it to last through more than a couple of on and offs. There is nothing to keep the rod in position. I suspect much bird activity will end up with the fruit rod falling off.

    Comments about Fruit Feeder:

This feeder is attractive and novel. I hung it up with an apple, and well before the birds discovered it, some other animal had gotten to it. I found the feeder tossed on the ground, fruitless, with the skewer removed. Probably a raccoon culprit. I will try again, but sense this is a losing battle.

    Comments about Fruit Feeder:

This feeder is sturdy, easy to set up, and has a wide 'hook' hanger so it can be placed on a variety of locations: hooks, branches of trees, etc. Undesirable birds don't like the fruit. One caveat: It isn't squirrel proof, but I LOVE to watch a squirrel take a few bites and hold the apple bit in its hands and eat it. There are enough birds to give the birds their fair share, and enough for the squirrel, too. I shopped locally for fruit feeders, and this one beat the others hands down, both in price and quality.

    Comments about Fruit Feeder:

I really like the design of this feeder compared to others I've got. I'm not that wild about the bird figurine at the top, and would prefer it without that feature, but may spray-paint that a more rustic color or just leave it off entirely, and I'd prefer it if the fruit rod had a pointed tip and if it were made a bit more sturdy, perhaps. I think it will work just fine, though!

    Comments about Fruit Feeder:

Very crude construction - many "weld" points. Fruit holds it together - there's nothing else to keep the fruit skewer in place. The decorative bird breaks easily and isn't secure on feeder. It's a good design, but I think I could have easily made something similar for free.

Good idea as a product, but difficult to give as a gifts as I had intended because no photo or explanation is included to show how it works a fruit feeder. Comments about Fruit Feeder:

I purchased the fruit feeder as a Christmas present for my brother. He liked it, but probably only used it a couple of times. The problem for him was that he had to remember to buy oranges/fruit, then actually cut the fruit and load the feeder with the fruit! Too much effort for him. He was better suited to the birdseed globes that he just hung on the hook... Normal people would probably like this feeder :-)

Haven't had much luck attracting birds with it and it isn't rust-proof as advertised. It is easy to use, however and features a cute bird on top that can be removed in cold weather.

Overall, not a bad product. It is well constructed but the bird ornament, while pretty, fell off the first day and was unusuable after that (not that it was necessary in the first place).
