I was disappointed in the quality of the glass. There is a bubble chip and little black flecks within the pretty blue glass which are distractions. Sending it back costs almost as much as the feeder so I'll have to keep it and try to over look the flaws.

Bought several of these for Mother's Day gifts, and all the recipients loved them. The most common response I heard was, "it's far too pretty to hang outdoors, I'm going to put it in my house instead!" It is beautiful and catches the light wonderfully, but it's quite heavy so needs a substantial branch or nail to hang from, and it's quite difficult to tell when it's empty because empty seed husks stay in it. If you dump it out to refill, many times you end up dumping out good whole seeds. But if you don't dump it, you end up putting good seed on top of empty seed. Bottom line - it's prettier than it is practical.

I was thrilled with this birdfeeder as soon as I opened the box. It is beautiful, high quality and I couldn't wait to set it up in my garden. It did take the birds a little time to get used to this new birdfeeder for some reason. It could be I started out using safflower seeds so the squirrels wouldn't be tempted to climb in the feeder (they don't particularly care for that kind of seed). But as soon as I mixed in regular birdseed the birds flocked to it.

I saw this feeder in the Better Homes magazine. If Better Homes indorses it, it has to be good. This is a beautiful glass bird feeder, one you don't see others have. Heavy, thick glass. Has small hole in bottom so water can drain out. Bought one for my parents too. They love it and have seen birds come to feed that have not been there before. Very recommended!!! I read in a past review they would like to see directions with it!?! All you have to do is hang it. No directions needed.

I couldn't believe how unattractive and garish this feeder was. I had it hanging for a short time and NEVER saw a bird in it. It does NOT keep rain out and therefore the birdseed clumps. We put the feeder up this morning and when the sun shines on it, it just sparkles! I was afraid that might tend to scare the birds away. I've only had this product up for one week so may be overly enthusiastic, but I don't think so. Within 15 minutes of hanging it up with gold finch seed inside, it attracted the finches that had come to our yard the previous spring through fall. The only drawback is that only one or two birds can eat at a time. It has rained hard but the seed is dry. It's beautiful in the sun. I'm impressed and would buy another one!

I loved this bird feeder, I hung it securely (I thought)on a shepherd's hook and was happy to look at it from my window. Unfortunately, the squirrels loved it too. Not a bird has come near it in the month I've had it up, although they are all over my other feeders. It sparkles so brightly in the sun that I think the flashing lights scare them -- same concept as the aluminum ribbons and CDs that I string over my strawberries to keep the birds away. The cracked glass in the bird feeder catches sunlight and makes a gorgeous attraction in our back yard. The birds started coming the 2nd day it was up.
I have taken some great photos of them sitting on and in the feeder. Its easy to fill and clean. We live in a fairly windy area, so I wouldn't be comfortable leaving it up in winter. Its so beautiful I'd hate to have it fall down and break. We did put another cord around it to hold it up.

This Blue Moon bird feeder is such a welcome addition to our yard! It is really lovely, the crackled blue glass is gorgeous in the sunlight!It also provides a welcome haven for some of our smaller birds that can get bullied out of the larger, flat pan feeders. The Mourning Doves are too fat to fit comfortably on the rims, and the Blue Jays are jealous of a color that rivals their own! This would make a wonderful gift for a hard-to-please person, this and a bag of waste-free seed would give them a satisfying and enjoyable new hobby!

I replaced my safflower feeder with the blue moon and it is perfect. One bird at a time means this expensive seed lasts longer. Safflower because squirrels don't like it and the birds I like to watch do. I planned to give this birdfeeder as a gift and when I received it, I was pleasantly surprised at how attractive and durable it was. The crackle glass is beautiful. I ordered another and gave them both as gifts. The receivers loved them. I don't know how they work, as they haven't been used yet, but appears that they will work well.

We decided to feed the squirrels with their own feeder and feed so that they would stay away from the bird feeders. This has been mostly successful and this feeder works great for that purpose. We have it hanging from an oak close to the trunk of the tree and the squirrels line up to feed. It is also a nice accent piece. The only downside is that they don't hold more than a couple of cups of feed, so the squirrels empty them quickly.

The photos online do not do this feeder justice. It is a gorgeous feeder, well made, with a very sturdy plastic coated wire cable hanger. I ordered one for myself and one for an artist friend for Christmas - we both love it. I am ordering 2 more - another for me, another for a friend as a birthday gift. A great gift for someone who enjoys feeding the birds, or just enjoys decorative ornaments in the yard and garden.

I purchased this as a gift for my mother after she purchased a glass bird feeder at a local hardware store which shattered as she tried to hang it. (She is a blue glass lover.) I am happy to report that THIS bird feeder is not only decorative but functional. Also, in comparison to the feeder she had purchased, this feeder is a work of art! Her broken feeder had many plastic parts in addition to the glass, and was rather traditional in styling. This feeder, however, is truly unique and like nothing you'll see in the 'big box' stores. We haven't hung it yet, but the feeder is heavy - the weight attests to the quality of the glass, but for some people, this may prove problematic. This is the ONLY reason I didn't give it five stars, but I personally would prefer a feeder with thick glass than a chintzy lighter-weight feeder. I may buy a very sturdy shepherds hook to hang it on so that my mom can refill it without straining and can watch her birdy-visitors at eye-level.

I love the way the light shines through it and I can see the level of bird seeds as well as the birds coming to feed off it. Unfortunately, the squirrels chewed through the cords and the feeder fell to the ground in 2 weeks. Because it was a braided wires inside a plastic sleeve, the squirrels was able to chew through it fairly easily. I think if it was a solid wire, they would have a harder time. The glass however, did not break because it fell on the grass. I can still use it if I can find some way of wiring it.

The birds are really into it now but at first they were very confused about how to feed from it. Since its heavy glass I wouldn't put seed that squirrels are attracted to into it. It looks gorgeous hanging in the yard.

the blue glass shape is beautiful, and I know I will attract different birds by using straight sunflower instead of mixed seed. I haven't seen a squirrel in it yet, but I have peanuts for them & the blue jays. it was a challenge choosing the right spot to hang it, although it's heavy I still expect it to swing in gusty winter winds, which rules out the shepherd's hook.

I purchased this birdfeeder, as it was unusual in shape and color. I love the sparkle, but it is quite heavy, so you need to have a secure bird feeder pole or branch to hang from.

I have my Blue Moon Birdfeeder just outside the breakfast window. It is so beautiful. I have Thistle seed in this one and mixed seed in a more traditional feeder. When the sun shines that Blue Moon Crackle Glass gleams so beautifully! This is the first birdfeeder at this house so I am anxiously awaiting my first feathered friend. I planted a Cone Flower this week hoping to help attract some, however, it seems to me the gleaming Blue Moon Feeder would also attract interest soon. It is also one of the least expensive feeders I found.

This feeder is heavy duty and a beautiful color. Here in southern Idaho we get some strong winds and this feeder is heavy enough to endure and still keep all the bird seed in tact... It is nice to see how the birds enjoy eating in the shelter of this feeder. Great product.

So far the feeder has been placed in 2 locations. The 1st got no interest from the birds; the 2nd had a few check it out, but they don't seem interested, although they feed a lot from the squirrel-proof feeder beside it. The hulled sunflower seed mix is in both feeders.
It is pretty, but unless the birds go for it soon, I think I will use it for a hanging planter next summer.

I ordered this feeder the same day the catalog arrived in the mail. This feeder is NOT your 'same old same old'. It has a presence in the garden. Like a piece of artwork. And for me, the number one requirement for the garden is that it must be beautiful as well as functional. People spot it immediately and ask what it is. It's so unusual and eye-catching, especially with the sunlight shining through it. The color is almost like a continuation of a clear blue sky. It's not exactly squirrel-proof, but the seed doesn't disappear from it immediately like the seed in my other feeders does. It is a bit more challenging for squirrels, because it moves. But for me, as a true nature lover, I really don't mind the squirrels having their share, since I enjoy watching their antics as much as I enjoy the birds. You will enjoy this feeder empty or full. The feeder itself brings its own visual elegance to the garden. I love it. I bought extras for gifts.
