If birds could talk as well as sing they’d ask for a birdfeeder like this one, with whitewashed wood siding and a real slate roof that withstands wind, rain, snow — just like they do on old barns dotting the rural landscape. The roof lifts for easy filling and the feeder has clear plexiglass panels so you can see it needs refilling before the seed runs out.

I just rec'd this birdfeeder & after an hour of trying to assemble it, I'm giving up & returning it tomorrow. First, I realized the only way to refill it w/birdseed would be to remove one of the slate roof panels. Second, the wood frame split as I tried to screw on one of the slate pieces; after several attempts (turning the slate over, flipping it 180 degrees & putting it on the opposite side of the birdfeeder), I threw in the towel. (Also, the birdfeeder wasn't whitewashed as advertised.) Unfortunately, it's a heavy item (slate & glass) [...]. What a pain. No wonder this item was on clearance!

A squirrel baffle is needed, like nearly all feeders. It's ruggedly built, easy to assemble. The roof is heavy, and makes it lean while refilling, but not a problem. Slightly longer cord would fix that. All kinds of birds visit, when filled with black oil seed.

Had to pilot-drill holes for the slate roof because the wood is soft and wood putty was used on it before I got it. Then decided to apply sealant to it to hopefully prolong wood life. But it's large and cute. Hopefully the squirrels won't eat it up trying to get more of the seed.

I placed this beautiful bird feeder over an Alberta spruce and near our birdbath to make a park-like area for our winged friends. The only drawback was having to assemble the feeder.
Comments about Whitewash Birdfeeder:
Predrilled hole for "easy" assembly was to close to edge of wood and caused splintering of wood. Had to glue splintered piece on and then re-drill in correct place in order to assemble properly,

This really is a great feeder. Birds of all sizes love it. It really has a large capacity. The feeder is heavy because of the slate - but is also very durable. Easy to put together although it would have been nice if the manufacturer had drilled little pilot holes to put the screws into. Assembly took less than 2-3 minutes. Have not had any leaking or any other issues with the feeder. Very good buy.
Comments about Whitewash Birdfeeder:
This is a very pretty design for a birdfeeder, and I purchased the matching birdhouse. However, with both items, the holes in the slate didn't line up with the holes in the frame on both sides. Also, the frame is not wide enough for the size of the screws and the wood split somewhat in all places where screws went in so I'm not sure how long it will hold up.

Comments about Whitewash Birdfeeder:
It is cute and holds a good amount of seed, but the lid secures through holes that leak water into the seed. It was difficult for the birds to get to the seed, so we had to modify it by adding a landing ledge at the feed stations. It is fairly heavy with the slate roof.
