Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

My neighbors have three annoying dogs that stare through the fence and bark at my dogs, so I wanted something that would block their view. Not only did I get that, but I got a very nice looking backdrop to my garden. It was very easy to attach to my existing fence, and the texture and style complement my yard. It doesn't look like it will last for very many seasons, but for the price I paid, it's worth the privacy and attractiveness.

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

I bought this to hide the dogs from those of us who don't want to be stared at all day. The screen does accomplish this. I was disappointed that the 'stitching' that holds the slats together is extreamly loose and the bamboo slips out if it's not sitting directly on the ground. The loose stitching also makes it hard to secure.I recomend wearing gloves to install, the slats have SHARP splinters that cut up your hands.

Placed this to provide visual barrier between my 2 golden retreivers and the 2 pit bulls next door.It worked in cutting down on the chasing and constant barking. It stood up well for 2 years, but the 50 inches of snow last year did it in. Just ordered more.

Best Uses:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

We bought the first 5'-high section of this fencing to cover a 100'-long section of chain-link for privacy. It was very easy to install since we just wired it onto existing fencing. It has weathered so well (that section has been up for 5 years) that we bought some of the 39"-high to attach to live-stock fencing on the other side of the property. It is a quick way to cover ugly wire fencing, provide privacy, and looks FABULOUS. We did have to replace a 3' section of it when a major oak limb came down on it and shattered the bamboo, but it wears well against smaller branches coming down. The color weathers well also - new sections blend in with sections that have been in place for several years. I don't know how easy it would be to install as fencing just by itself; we have only wired it onto existing wire or chain link fencing to beautify it and for privacy. Strong wind has not bothered it at all.

Bottom Line:

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

I got this fence to keep my neighbor's new dog from lunging at my dog. The two of them would try to go at each other through the chainlink fence. We installed the bamboo fence with zip ties right on the chain link. It is attactive and much more affordable and easy than putting up a wood fence. Even though it is somewhat see-through, the dogs cannot really see each other and now just give a couple of barks and my neighbors and I can enjoy time in our yards with the dogs out. I did not have to move any plants next to the fence, just slid it right behind them.

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

3/4 does have some noticeable gaps, keep that in mind when you purchase. It's a good product for the price and it has serviced my purpose of keeping my neighbors dogs and my dogs from being able to fight at the chain-link fence. It's a great cover-up for the chain-link, I was able to tuck it right under the top poll and tie it one with the bamboo string I bought. Overall, this was a great product I'm so please that I found it. [...]

[...] The product is exactly what I expected based on reviews here. Yes, it is cheap, but it provides a moderate amount of privacy and looks pretty nice attached to a metal fence which is what I wanted. The lashing cord that I also ordered to attach the bamboo fencing to the metal fence was much too flimsy for that purpose. We used electrical supply zip ties.

I did not realize how ugly the chain link fence was that is behind a border of hydrangeas. This flower bed is approximately 28 feet long. I attached the split bamboo fencing to the chain link fence and it was an instantaneous WOW factor. Even the neighbors stopped to look. The difference it has made in that particular flower bed is amazing!

I use this to hide an ugly rusted chain link fence between my neighbor and I. It provides just enough screened privacy between our yards. Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

Installed several sections in garden, attached to driven steel posts with stainless steel wire. After two years thin galvanized wire of fence is rusted and totally shot, winds have ripped fence apart. But the stainless wires are as bright and strong as the day I twisted them on. This product is totally inappropriate for outdoor use as-built. Stainless steel wires is required for this construction for outdoor use, galvanized is absolutely wrong.

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

I put this up over a rusty wire fence in my back yard, it attaches quickly with zip ties. The wire rusts away pretty quickly but the bamboo will stay in place for about 2-3 years before completely falling down. It's a good privacy screen to hide the neighbor's ugly yard. It's inexpensive compared to building a real privacy fence.

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

This fence was very easy to install using the faux bamboo fence posts. That is once I figured out how to get the posts deep enough into the ground. So far the fence has stayed up and actually gives a nice type of shading in that corner of the yard. We used it to fill in a gap where one fence ended and another began. There used to be a garage in between but that was torn down. It is too early to know how the fence will stand up to weather. There have been a couple of semi-stormy days but nothing fierce just yet.

This fencing is just right to give our side yard a bit of privacy and keep the neighbor's dogs out of our garden. We attached it to a wooden framework; five rolls went up in about three hours. It's not solid so the breeze still comes through but my tomatoe plants are safe this year!

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

I back iron trellis with this fencing. Set against another wood fence, it fills the gaps for more privacy so that the dogs don't see more things to bark at. I also set a backed trellis behind some newly planted trees, plants for backdrop. You can split the fence into more sections and rewire the sections with the existing wire on the fence.

My small garden which has a chain link fence at the end and a neighbor whose yard is neglected, I use the split bamboo fence as a privacy fence and it adds a great view when looking at my garden. Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

I bought fencing to hide part of neighbor's adjoining, deteriorating fence. Since I couldn't attach anything permanently, tying the bamboo fencing to their structures worked very well. I don't expect the bamboo to last more than a few years in our harsh midwest climate, but it is inexpensive and easily replaced-and it seems to be keeping the skunks and rabbits out of the yard.

I love this bamboo fencing. It's easy to put up by yourself. I tied it to existing wire fencing and suddenly had a much more private backyard. My two yard cats do not climb over the fence and it makes a great backdrop for my plants. I bought this same fencing last year and liked it so well, I decided to expand fencing this year. And last year's fence stilllooks great!

Best Uses:

Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

I've purchased say 5 of these fences, each for it's own year. Left outside it weathers poorly and if it's in a place where wind can get it, or snow can sit on it, it's doomed.

I recommend it for small spaces that are protected from wind/elements. Otherwise you buy one each year. Better to invest in longer term fences as I've spent say $400 and still need to replace...

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

While vacationing in Italy years ago we saw a carport covered with plastic and draped with willow fencing. We purchase some metal awnings headed for the junk yard and installed a section to cover a converted garage/pool house outdoor patio area. We attached the fencing using plastic ties to secure to the metal ribs. We then put in LCD lights and wrapped the underside of the metal awning with still more fencing. I must say it was better than we expected.

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

I have a wire fence between mine and county owned property. Much honeysuckle and vines grow over that fence which try to invade my garden. I put up several panels of the split bamboo fencing which improved the look of the fence, provided a lovely backdrop to the garden, and even slowed down the advancement of those vines. I have 4 panels up so far and bought another 4 to complete the job.

This fence is no plain Jane! I have managed to turn the corner of my yard from the place where I had to look at my next door neighbor's non-running car collection into a calm spot with a serene beauty all of it's own. This fence is rustic but it also creates a pretty, sturdy backdrop to my potted plants and water feature. I plan to surround my entire yard in this fencing next year!

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

This was used to hide a block wall. It needed to be tall enough to meet up with the wood fence above wall. Unfortunately the way this bamboo is constructed the slats fall through their wires if not resting against the ground. This made affixing it to the wall nearly impossible. What I thought would be a 1/2 hour job, is still sitting unfinished after spending an 1 hour on one roll. I need to install 2 rolls. If it ever gets put up, it will look great. Basically I'm rebuilding the bamboo fencing to install. Very disappointing. I would only recommend if using it against the ground, immediately upon taking out of packaging...that's where the problem started.

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

We lash this fencing to the railing of an elevated deck at our lake house when either (or both) of our 1-year-old granddaughters are visiting. It's strong enough to keep them safe, and it blends with the outdoors in an attractive way. It's easy to work with, easy to store, economical and durable. You could stain or seal the back side if you really wanted to, and I probably would if we were going to leave it out in winter weather. It's not fancy, but it's not supposed to be. Just a good product for its intended use and for the money.

Best Uses:

Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

We put this fencing up along one side of our property 6 years ago to block out a rental house. It added protection to our property and our dogs from weeds and blackberry growing through the chain link from an unkempt yard. It weathers nicely, has survived heavy Pacific winter rain since 2002 with another 5-6 years of life expected. We are ordering again to line the chain link on the other side of our property, as a barrier to wild blackberry attacking on that side. The fencing stands up to curious dogs trying to tear it apart to see what's on the other side. Great buy for the price.
Invest in the black cord to tie it to the chain link, it survives the rain, snow and dog paws - and makes a decorative design along the top and bottom edges.

Would Have Returned If It Wasn't So Big!
By VPVerified Purchaser from Bennington on 8/29/2008
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

This bamboo fence is so poorly constructed that it actually made me nervous that it was produced in a sweat-shop environment. The wires holding the bamboo together are only loosely wound. The bamboo is much more widely spaced than I expected. Looking at it, I imagine Gardeners' Supply has an ENORMOUS mark up on this product. If it had been much cheaper, I wouldn't be so disappointed.

Easy Fencing
By Avid GardnerVerified Purchaser from Grand Marais, MN on 7/13/2008
Pros:
Ease of use, Lightweight, Weather Resistant
Cons:
Gaps between slats, Narrow Diameter Bamboo
Best Uses:
Decoration, Privacy
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Split-Bamboo Fencing:

This lightweight bamboo fencing was easy to handle and install and provides a economical solution for blocking the view of our mulching area. However, the narrow diameter bamboo "slats" that are not closely placed won't provide the total privacy that a solid fence does. It is a quick, easy, economical solution for screening out an unsightly view.

I like this as a backdrop but the backer it is being attached to has to be perfectly straight or this "bends" with it and doesn't look attractive. The lashing cord that I got with it breaks so I ended up using twine to tie it off to the chain link fence behind it.

I LOVE the ORGANIC look it provides the yard (attached to my black vinyl chain link fence) as well as providing some privacy. It took a few experiments to find a good economical way to attach to my fence; it would be helpful to recommend using those plastic safety straps (which is what I used). It was a bit tedious/time-consuming to attach; however I had 200 ft to cover!
