Comments about Solar Star Light:

These lights are delightful! The only catch is that you need to pay attention to wipe off the solar collector when it rains or if there is heavy morning dew. The water droplets prevent collecting the solar rays. Otherwise, I love the bright colors, and the changing effects! Really nice.

Comments about Solar Star Light:

The first set of colored blinking lights, worked great and immediately. Then I bought the second batch of three of the all white lights and three of the colored- blinking lights. The white lights worked with no problem, except one of the poles while shoving in the ground broke the plastic battery compartment. It should not be made out of flimsy plastic. However, I taped the part where the pole meets the plastic compartment that hold the batteries and the upper portion of the lights. They did work after that and I didn't have to return it. But, the three colored lights I purchased do not stay on all night like my first three, even after charging them as directed. I don't get it and I'm very disappointed, and thinkng of having to return the colored lights for a refund especislly for how mush they cost apiece What a pain.

These are great! I love that you can change the finials. Each one has it's own charger too; I had a set before that were connected to a charger and each other limiting their placement. I love my twinkling lights - I only wish they shed a little more light. I leave them out all year, in all weather; they do just fine...[...] Love it - thanks very much.

I love having th ability to change this solar light to a lily, hummingbird or the starburst - I have several shpheres and am waiting for summer to use these all together - it amazes me that that little bulb can produce such strong colors, and that each night this "winter" I have changing colors on the porch to enjoy in spite of the cold. I'm thinking these in a pot of flowers that I have at the entrance of our sidewalk - and in the garden entrance.

These lights add some "fun" to a garden. I broke one where the flower attached to the pole - so only could put up 5. The only downfall I have is that I live in Michigan and the sun doesn't always shine. I tried using them around Christmas outside to no avail. So - I packed them up and they are now a 3 season light.

Comments about Solar Star Light:

We'll probably be buying several more of these lights for Christmas gifts for friends and family. It's a great way to celebrate the Season of Light year 'round. We have two in our yard that are visible from the road, and many of our neighbors have commented how cheerful the changing lights make them feel as they drive by.

Comments about Solar Star Light:

I bought the dragonflys and put them in the front garden and loved them. They came three to a set and are so pretty the way they change colors. I decided I wanted more for the backyard garden so I ordered the starlight but there is only one with three different tops. I thought that rather silly as I'm not going to keep changing tops and would prefer to display all three. I love the look but they are very pricy to keep buying more and more is what you need.

Its so much fun watching it at night and in the early morning. I have the original, purchased many years ago and still shining on! I love this product, and the only reason for 4 stars is that I wish it were less expensive.

The key features are 1) built-in solar panel makes it easy to set up without wires and extra parts cluttering up the garden, 2) the ability to change finials (I use the hummingbird and flower heads), and 3) the changing colors.

One caution: while quite weather resistant, don't forget to bring them in over the winter, or at least keep them from being buried in the snow!

Comments about Solar Star Light:

I love these solar star lights that twinkle in different colors. They are my favorite lights, and I have professional landscape lights. They add "life" to my yard at night because of their twinkling colors. I prefer the "star" top for my yard. I place them in the center of flowering pots on the pool patio, several strategically located in the garden areas, one on the picnic table, and I have one in an entrance walkway flower pot. My neighbor wakes early, when it is still dark, and he told me he enjoys seeing my twinkling star in the front walkway when he goes for his morning walk. I love this product and have been buying them for a couple of years now. I have also bought them as gifts. The only downside is that the battery seems to last only one season. I have found a solar man who knows how to change these batteries. Love your company. Jean M.

QUALITY HAS DECLINED
By DonVerified Reviewer from Arizona on 1/20/2009
Best Uses:
Back Yard, Front Yard
Describe Yourself:
Avid Do-It-Yourselfer
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Solar Star Light:

Star lights I bought here 3 years ago have 5 1/2" finials; the ones currently offered are much smaller and look very cheap. Also, the new lights lasted a couple of months, then died; while my original ones are still going strong. I was disappointed that the original product was downgraded in quality. Unfortunately, I'm gong to assume that Gardeners Supply is cheapening all their products.

I've given them to all my family for their gardens. A great accent! I own 3 lights and it adds so much at nighttime. Wish we had more sun-days in our area so they shine more. I leave them out all year thru our winter and I've found that they only last about 1-2 years. will try to change the rechargeable battery to see if that helps.

Before buying these I checked for other reviews from the midwest. I didn't find any. Well, they just don't work in Michigan in the winter, because there is very little sunshine. Apparently these take a lot of bright direct sunlight to work. I'm hopeful that they will work during the summer when we have more sun here, but as Christmas decorations, they're a bust.

I received 4 of these as a gift two years go. They have made me happy every night since then with absolutely no care. I put them together in a couple of minutes and stuck them outside where they have been glowing nightly since. After a year and a half I changed the tops because I noticed they had yellowed a bit from exposure. I just recently purchesed 3 more for each of my sisters for Christmas - I know they'll love them. It's just so much fun to glance out the window and see them changing colors !

This product does work even within another light source, but to truly appreciate its many varied rainbow of colors, it needs to be in an area with minimal lighting (as from street lights, building security lights, etc.). I love the flower design included with the product, as it looks so much like a tiger lily! This product also does not require a battery, as did another company's creation.

We put these lights in the pool yard and I can't tell you how much it makes me smile when, at any time of night, I look outside and see the colors and twinkle of these lights. My ONLY complaint is that a couple of them died much sooner than the rest of them. But keep in mind that I haven't checked to see how easy it is to change the bulbs, or even if I can change them.
I have purchased some to give as Christmas presents.

Comments about Solar Star Light:

The multi-pointed star topper really caught my eye, but once I opened the package, and saw the flower with fiber optic stamens, that became a fav. Now I need an extra post/light, to use both. The little hummingbird isn't quite my style; however, I bought a set of these for my Mom, and she likes the bird topper the best.

On the downside, both my Mom and I have found that even after several days of full sunshine, the glow time is just a few hours, before it starts to peter out. I've got some other solar lights with similar size panels that seem to glow for 6+ hours even after a partly cloudy day.

Comments about Solar Star Light:

I was really excited when my gardens started blooming and it became warm enough to place my solar lights in my flower bed. They were amazing and I really enjoyed watching the colors change. Then, one by one they stayed lit for less and less time with the same amount of sunshine. Now there are only two of the four which even light up any more and one of them is starting to fade after just a couple of hours of being lit. I would have expected a much longer life for the lights. The LEDs should not have burned out this soon. Is it something about the batteries that store the sunlight wearing out. Are they replaceable? Anyhow, I am very disappointed in the lights.

Pros:
Area Of Illumination, Attractive Design
Cons:
Breaks Easily
Best Uses:
Gardens
Describe Yourself:
Do-It-Yourself
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Solar Star Light:

These solar lights are very pretty, but they break easily. I got 5 all together, 2 broke right away, where the stem comes out of the solar area is very weak. (raccoons I think knocked them over.) One was totally broken, and the other is propped up with duct tape. Another just stopped lighting up after about a month.
So although they have great potential, they are too expensive for something that breaks so easily.

Comments about Solar Star Light:

I love the concept of colored solar powered lights in the yard. I used these in my backyard in a berm near a waterfall. The colors are bright and do last for at least 6-8 hours a night. These come with interchangeable heads for a star, humming bird, flower, etc. At a distance you won't be able to discren the different shapes. However, the changing colors are bright and beautiful.

I think this is a unique gift for the gardner who has everything. I rated the Northern Lights one star higher because the bulbs are a little bigger and easier to see. But these lights are also a good buy.

My only recommendation is that if you plan to remove the lights during inclement weather or change of seasons that you glue the pointed tips onto the light rods. They can pull off easily in the ground.

Comments about Solar Star Light:

I have this light at the end of the walkway where I also have a row of solar lights, just outside my front door. It looks beautiful, changing colors, at night. I have had it up all year and it has performed well all the time. It is rather fragile. I have had two similar ones along my deck in the backyard, and something or someone broke off the lights, rendering them useless.
