Comments about Great Blue Heron:

I loved the look of the Heron, but even after placing it in a partial shady area - the paint is peeling badly only after one season. I'm glad I bought it on sale as it is peeling so easily I can hardly believe it. Not worth any money!!

Comments about Great Blue Heron:

Finally, something that works to keep the Blue Heron away. I was skeptical at first but at my wits end with the Blue Heron visiting my pond daily. I tried several things but nothing worked. When I received this statue, I placed it by my pond. On the 8th day the Heron returned and cautiously viewed the statue but then ignored it. Since then I moved the statue and have done so weekly and the Heron has not returned. This was on sale at a great price and well worth every penny.

My Great Blue Heron fits perfectly in our large flower garden and is a distraction from all of the plants. When it rained last month a real Heron stopped by to visit so it is realistic. It looks very attractive and stays put even in strong winds.

Territorial Bird - stays away
By ArlenVerified Purchaser from Cumberland, RI on 6/17/2009
Pros:
Attractive Design, Easy Set-up, Realistic, Securable, Weather Resistant
Best Uses:
Next to Koi Pond
Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Great Blue Heron:

I know it sounds silly that you put up a Heron to solve a Heron problem ... but as the bird is territorial, they don't even come near. We only have to remember to move it every few days. Even a dumb bird will figure this out if it never moves. Our neighbor has a better view from this home and has watched the live Heron scope out our plastic model, but won't come near. So far, a small investment that appears to work.

Comments about Great Blue Heron:

I got one of these pamper-free pets immediately after the real heron came to dinner. After researching the herons, it said that if they see another Heron at a location that they are very territorial and will continue looking for an un-occupied pond. Knock on wood, I havent' had a real heron visit since "Plastiq" came to the party. I've only had two of these guys because my lab puppy destroyed the the first Plastiq and numero 2 became our main defense line.

Cons:

Best Uses:

Comments about Great Blue Heron:

THE BOTTOM LINE IS THIS PRODUCT WORKS! IT IS MADE OF LIGHT WEIGHT PLASTIC, NOT ALL THAT STURDY OR RUGGED, BUT GETS THE JOB DONE. THE SALE PRICE FOR "TRYING OUT" A DECOY WORKED FOR ME. AS I'VE SEEN DECOYS FOR A MUCH HIGHER PRICE AND WASN'T SURE IF THEY WOULD WORK OR WERE WORTH THE PRICE. I WOULD BUY THIS DECOY AGAIN, SINCE I'VE PLACED IT NEAR MY POND I HAVE NOT HAD A REAL HERON THREATEN MY FISH, AND THAT IS WHAT I BOUGHT IT FOR!

Comments about Great Blue Heron:

I put this in my pond since there a number of large plant around my pond. This made it hard to secure since I did not want to put a stake through my liner. The heron has not been back that I know of, I still have the fish that it left after its previous visits.

Comments about Great Blue Heron:

I bought this for two Koi ponds we have to rid a family of herons on our property. The Baby herons thought this was their mama and kept walking around it for the first week we had it.
After about two weeks the paint flaked off the back and now the back of the bird is all white.

Really looks life like. If you pond has a liner be careful not to poke through it. I placed mine on the edge of my pond. I also sprayed it with a sun protector, just to be sure it keeps it colors.

Comments about Great Blue Heron:

I have this set up near a fountain in my back yard. I really bought it as a fun thing for visiting children to see, and one of them fell in love with it and even named it! It's made of a composite and it looks like it (no way it looks like a real bird), but that's OK with me. We had some really big winds several months ago and I forgot to bring it inside, but nothing happened at all. It came through just fine.

When our pond is finished, "Henry" the Blue Heron will add delight to our yard. I can't wait to see the raccoon's reaction when he's center stage in the pond! He will be my husband's favorite pet. "Henry" never needs food, or shelter, brushed or taken to the vet, a perfect pet!

Comments about Great Blue Heron:

Our neighbor was so impressed with our Blue Heron that I bought one for him and another one for us since ours was getting so old. It sat in the garage for a long time until my husband decided to set it out by the creek in close proximity to the old one. I went running to get him when I saw it because I thought it was the real Blue Heron who had crossed the footbridge. He got a good laugh on me as we have gotten on everyone else who sees our Blue Heron. The only improvement I could suggest is that it be constructed like our old one. Instead of standing on legs, the body sat on a metal post that allowed the body to move in the breeze, thus making it even more realistic.

The Great Mistake
By HerkDiaVerified Purchaser from Baltimore, Md on 7/9/2008
Pros:
Attractive Design
Cons:
Difficult Set-up
Best Uses:
Front Yard
Describe Yourself:
Bargain Hunter, Practical
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Great Blue Heron:

It was a good idea. The concept was to put it in our front yard that turns into a lake when it rains. It was ordered as a Christmas present and when we tried to put it out this month in the yard (July) half the parts were missing. No way to make it stand up. The box was in poor shape and I have a feeling parts may have fallen out in shipment. For the cost, it was very disappointing.

Comments about Great Blue Heron:

Though this product has been good to keep the real herons from my pond, most of the paint, esp. on the back of the heron has chipped off, rendering it a not so realistic looking bird. I would like it to be replaced, since I have only had it less than a year, and used it part of a season.

Is it possible for someone to contact me as to what to do??
