My sister helped me with yardwork when when I broke my leg in a skiing accident recently. I bought these for her garden, and she loves them! She had to add a bit of oil so they would turn correctly - otherwise, perfect!!

These were a great gift item. My father couldn't believe I found metal pinwheels! They will be used for yard decorations and to chase away moles. He had used metal ones many years ago and loved them. Recently, he tried the cheap plastic ones that looked cheap and broke easily.

Comments about Old-Fashioned Pinwheels, Set of 3:

I was leary about ordering these due to all the of the comments about their lack of motion, however they DO spin. They have to be facing the correct direction in the breeze. I have many different pinwheels in the garden and at no point do all of them spin at the same time. Next summer, I'll be anxious to see if the help scare away the woodchuck that moved in under our deck this summer (thankfully we managed to scare him away before he ate the entire garden this year). I plan to order more, hopefully the creaky noise they make when they spin makes my garden less enticing to pests. Since there were so many comments about their lack of motion, I did spray the "pin" with WD-40 before I placed them in the garden.

I ordered these pin wheels to add wimsy to my garden. Although they are attractive, they are smaller then what I expected. The colors are also muted..not what I expected. A fair price would have been in the $15.00 range. Most items purchased from Garden Supply are right on..these missed the mark for me, due to the price

Comments about Old-Fashioned Pinwheels, Set of 3:

When I opened the pinwheels, I had already read some of the pros and cons about them so I really wasn't sure what to expect. The first one twirled around easily, however, I thought the paint job on it really wasn't the best. The second one did not swirl at all...it was severely bent and required me to do some bending on the small flag type things in order to spin correctly. After I did this, it seemed to spin but not as nicely as the first one did. The third one was ok as far as spinning, but I was not overly thrilled about the colors in it. I had purchased this for a birthday gift for a friend and after receiving it, I did spray it with clear coat so it would be more weatherproof. I will not be giving it to her until the end of July so I can't say whether she will enjoy them or not...but I thought they were rather cute. I have purchased several items from your company and these probably have not been my favorite, but they are unique and something I have not seen anyplace else.

Thank you,
Pat Perkins

Comments about Old-Fashioned Pinwheels, Set of 3:

very, very frustrating. these are beautiful pinwheels and look great in the gardens but it takes STORM FORCE winds to get them to turn. i even lubricated them where the wheel spins on the "axle" and still, only turn under extremely strong winds.
i have 2 metal pinwheels i bought 4 or 5 years ago and they STILL turn when the wind blows...they have aged and rusted in the weather, but they have character and they still turn when the wind blows.
VERY frustrating!!

Honestly, I never thought that a reputable gardening supply company like yours would advertise a product that had not been tested and that had not had its customers' satisfaction in mind, especially with such an uncomplicated product. We intended to use them among blueberry plants as a deterrent for the birds. Evidently we will have to come up with a different plan. PS Receipt and packing slip were thrown away--never thought I'd have to return designer pinwheels.

These are so pretty in person. They are made well and I think when sealed with a clear coat (as the directions say) will last a long time. Love that you can have them around 12" or they come with an extension piece that makes them 24" tall. Great gift when broken up. I ordered 2 sets and you can tell they are all hand painted, no two are the same.
