The armillary is a centuries-old device once used for teaching astronomy. Today, they make wonderful garden accents, reminding us of the heavens above. This one has a glass sphere at its center, flecked with phosphorescent paint that will glow at dusk.

    We only get about 4 hours of sun in our backyard, but I wouldn't place this out front...to easily stolen. Because of the limited sun, the globe does not glow at night.

    I have my armillary placed on top of our patio coffee table. It is a beautiful accent piece as well as a conversational piece. The glass sphere does not glow as much as I thought it would at night. But it is still a beautiful quality piece.

    I love the Armillary (I bought 2 & gave one to my best friend) Unfortunately, mine blew over in the wind and the beautiful globe cracked into pieces. I did not get to enjoy the "glow" as this happend the next day after I recieved it!

    The armillary is nice but you'll want to touch up with a little anti-rust paint. It rusts at all riveted and screwed connections. And you'll need some pretty strong light followed by very dark conditions to see any glow in the glass ball.
    All in all though, for its price it's is a nice little focal point for a garden

    There was paint on the screws to attached parts together. Had to get paint out of groves before it could be assembled. Joints are exposed to water and rust.

    It is a beautiful addition to my garden. I enjoy seeing it on display.
