THIS HAS BEEN GREAT. I AM NOT HAVING TO CHOP BY HAND ANYMORE!!!! I AM ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF YARD DEBRIS (TREE BRANCHES)AND LARGER GARDEN DEBRIS. GREAT FOR ALL THE FALL LEAVES. THIS IS EASY TO USE - QUIET-COMPACT. IT HELPS TO ADD DRY DEBRIS WITH GREEN (MOIST) TO AVOID CLOGGING AND JAMMING. I ADD ALL OF THE CHOPPING TO MY LARGE COMPOSTER AND MIX. GREAT RICH COMPOST!
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
This is the best! It is very easy to use and a must have for all yards! I usually dread having to trim my shrubs and trees because of the clean up but now, I just take my trimmings over to my chipper and make mulch! I do wish there was more space at the top to insert leaves and smaller stuff but I am sure that would then create a major safety issue. The trimmer is heavy but moves around fairly easily on its wheels. I just keep mine in one area of my yard. I highly recommend this product to all!

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
This is my THIRD mulching machine from Garden Supply. The first two were those red round looking mulchers they sell for about $200. I LOVED those machines, but after ever season of storing in my Texas (no cold) shed, they wouldn't work. So I thought I'd try this model. And the results? I couldn't be more disappointed. While I love the blade idea instead of the plastic threads (don't have to replace it) it hardly shreds my leaves! I have to run the same LITTLE pile over and over and over and over! Big disappointment there. I actually had to order 3 yards of mulch from the local gardening place just so I can lay mulch down this year! As for the chipper part, that works well. But you have to use thin, small branches. I've gotten it clogged a few times. If you're impatient like me, get someone who has patience to run it! :) All and all...SAVE YOUR $300 and either A) get mulch delivered from a local gardener (it's organic and cheaper than the stuff you get in the bags) or B) opt for a gas powered mulcher. I know they're more money, but you'll get that fine mulch you're looking for.
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I had to have a dedicated line installed for it. The brochure has a mistake. The blades should be in the opposite direction from what the brochure says, when putting on the cover. I had to prop the motor on a pile of phone books, not on a 2x4 as recommended, because a 2x4 was not high enough, when fastening the legs on. I was able to put it together myself, though. When you use it, get the motor going fast before inserting things. Make sure you wait to shut it off until all the material has been chewed and expelled.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Use this product for cleaning up yard debris. Does a super job when you go slow and don't over-stuff. Excellent for hedge trimmings and small limbs. On the downside, it jams frequently as it does not seem to spew out the grindings quick enough. Still love the product.
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Directions for assembly a bit difficult to interpret. Once assembled product works quite well.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
We moved into a home in Hawaii that had not been lived in for some time. The jungle had taken over the yard. We didn't have space to pile up the vines and brush, so we purchased this chipper. It was a Godsend. You plug it in and it works great. We had piles of chipped vegetation starting to compost very quickly. You must remember this is a small chipper and you need to feed it gradually or it will jamb. After a few minutes you get the feel of it and know when the motor starts working to hard, so it's easy to tell what's too heavy. This simple little machine has saved us thousands of dollars having shrubs and green matter hauled away. Our only problem is getting replacement blades because we use it so much!

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
This machine works really well with dry material, especially dry woody branches and twigs. It struggles with greener, softer leafy stuff. Clearing jammed material is easy, even if its annoying to have to stop the work flow to do so. It has a good fail-safe switch to avoid potentially nasty accidents. Although its heavy, the wheels work well for moving it around the garden. It is challenging to maneuver on stairs (eg. into a basement through the bulkhead) - needs two people for safety. The assembly instructions were poor and could do with supplemental pictures - take a good look at all the parts before starting to put the wheel frame and wheels onto the machine.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I was excited about an small electric chipper/shredder a woman could use. For it to run - the blades have to be in a certain position or it won't start. If you stop or move it, you often need to take it apart to reset the blades, and they may move again befor you get started again. I called for help and was referred to the local maintainance provider. The wouln't talk to me - said I need to bring it in for him to look at. I wanted to know if I was doing something wrong first. So I put it away. Sorry I got it.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
If branches were as smooth and straight as dowels, this product might still clog. As for chipping branches up to 1 1/2 inches, there is no way this can be done consistently without clogging the mechanism. Not only does it stop running, once it does, you have to unscrew the bolts, take off the top, clear the blade and fasten it back together. I worked for about an hour and a half today, and had to do this about six times. Also, if your branches are the least bit damp, everything sticks together, causing clogging. I haven't even tried leaves.
I can't begin to describe my disappointment with, and frustration in this product.
From the outset, upon assembly, it didn't go together properly. The blade hit the side of the housing, making a terrible sound. It has to be screwed together just enough to hold the top on to the bottom, or the blade hits the side. Even when the blade sits free of the housing, the noise level is very high. When it does work, I feel guilty working when my neighbors are at home. I wear ear plugs to use this machine.

I was disappointed in the performance of the blades. Upons second use, one of the blades shattered (no, I didn't put anything larger than recommended into the hopper).

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Can not handle leaves, barely handles small branches, can not handle clumps. Top need to be removed to unclog blades but screwws are difficult to use. Bette if it had clips. Safety features are overly restrictive. Not a good buy
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Used for small limbs, trim, leaves in my yard. Inexpensive alternative to putting trash bags in landfill. Easy to use but limbs have to be small. I trim mine to fit.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I bought this machine a couple of years ago, and it still looks new;because I can't use it. Even the smallest twigs won't go through. It was a waste of money and it is still sitting in the shed looking good, but not worth anything. Is there something wrong with my Chipper? Even my neighbor who is a landscaper said it was a waste of money

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I replaced a powerful, gas-powered chipper with this much smaller electric model, because I couldn't start the big one by myself. I need a chipper for brush, small branches and leaves, and can't help but compare the performance of the two, though I realize it isn't quite fair. The top leaf-feed on this model is practically useless, though the small branch feed works very well. Making sure it doesn't clog took some getting used to, but I think I've found the secret.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
We have a lot of trees in our yard and it's a great way to make use of all those dead branches that fall on the ground. This machine is easy to use and takes up little space to store it.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
The chipper would benefit from handlebars for transporting. Plus, the blade on mine broke. I also agree with other reviews that say it is underpowered. However, it's fun to use and woodchipping is good therapy.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
It took me a bit of time to get used to using it. At first I didn't make sure the outlet for the mulched product was always clear and so the machine overheated (it just stopped and had to be cleaned out). As soon as I changed my method of bagging, I had no problems and was able to work for hours.
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
The single worst part about cleaning the yard, raking beds, pruning, and digging up spent plants is getting rid of the waste. Now I've found all that waste to be hidden treasure. This machine is the perfect counter-part to my composter because shreaded material is vital for the composting process.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
This is to heavy and not very powerful. The branches should be small, and very dry to work effective. It is much easier to purchase wood chips from the local garden center than using this using this equipment.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I purchased this to shred twigs, leaves, garden debris and such. It works fine though it is extremely heavy to move around. Putting it together was a nightmare because I had to turn it upside down. But it does a great job of shredding. I still don't know what the black paddle like device is that came with it and no mention is made of it in the manual.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
It does as advertised. Powerful and effective in chipping. Shredding - not so much. It does tend to jam. Taking off the top to clear the jam is cumbersome. Some quick release buckles would be much better than the screw knobs. Also a handle for transporting would be helpful. You have to move it grabbing the hopper. It's a bit clumsy.
I use it primarily for chipping sticks and small prunings. I would recommend it, but making sure they know about its shortcomings.
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
This is a great leaf mulcher and my flower beds are beginning to enjoy the results. It's easy to roll but heavy enough to anchor itself for operation. The safety feaures are overdone because it takes forever to push the leaves into the shoot and you can only load a couple of handfuls of leaves at a time.Make sure your extension cord meets the requirements. Dust mask
recommended. Now, if the weather will co-operate, I can mulch the rest of my beds!!!!

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I have a quarter acre yard, which this chipper satisfies, but I would not recommend for any yard larger than that (not if you have lots of trees, like mine, I have seven old 60-100 ft trees). It kept blowing the fuse if I turned it on and off too often, I found it is best to leave motor running while collecting extra twigs etc. Also, it is very difficult to move around, there are no handles for pushing/pulling--this is its worst feature, or lack of feature. However, its a great chipper for twigs and small branches; pine cones are difficult, and I would NEVER recommend for leaves, that is too slow etc. But if you have a lot of falling twigs etc in your yard, this is perfect. And it's great seeing all that free mulch appear. Yes, I'd recommend to a friend, but BEG the makers to design handles so enabling better transportation from shed to yard.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I usually add many items to the compose pile which can grow way too big. What would have been an additional three foot mound was reduced to less than a foot. Naturally it will also break down much faster to the compose I desire. Leaves are chopped coarsely, twigs and small branches are reduced to medium-to-fine grindings. My only concern is that when turned off, the blade slowly spins to the stop. I think there should be some braking mechanism similar to a lawn mower that stops the blade faster. Overall, I am glad I purchased this product.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
great for light work such as leaves and prunings, very quiet, doesn't throw mulch all over the place, i actually put it were i want the mulch and just let it fall on the ground and rack out when done. A little jamming with damp leaves but easy to deal with, directions to assemble are not good but found instructions on internet that were great, there was an added insert about assembly that is better than the instruction manual, not much to assemble really just the legs and supports and the top which just sits right on top of motor once legs are on. Very sturdy, does a great job of mulching and chipped up sticks as well as my larger gasoline run unit.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I saw a similar item at a relative's house in England and immediately tried to find that one, this was the closest in the US. The Pro (Safety) causes the downfall of this product. Because you have to twist down three clams on the chute, you cannot get the blade running while it is open. Unfortunately, these clamps could have been made quick release clamps, but instead screw down and make clearing a jam time consuming and frustrating.
I'm tempted to make my own clamps (if possible). Also, some screws have shaken loose and now I have to hold the top in place to prevent annoying vibration sounds. A lot of maintenance needed without much use.
I'd buy a replacement chipper, but then what do I do with this very very big, awkward product? Who would want this?
It does the job, but was poorly designed.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I bought an earlier version of this product two years ago. It's great for ordinary yard maintenance - we use it to put prunings back where they came from, as mulch, and to create "brown" material to add to our "green" grass clippings for compost. It's easy to use and fairly simple to maintain. I love that I'm not spewing gas fumes and exhaust into the air. If you, like me, are not good with gas motors or want something simple to use and simple to maintain, this is a great tool.
I would recommend that you ask about and purchase extra blades, because they will get dull over time. Some handiness with tools is required to maintain top efficiency; you will have to remove and sharpen or replace blades from time to time. This would be true of any chipper/shredder. A lawnmower service could probably do it for you, but I've found that a belt sander or grinding wheel is adequate to put a good edge back on the blades. I went two years before I felt that new blades were in order -- but, because my model had been discontinued, I had to hunt to find them. Even though new models use identical blades, the parts numbers aren't the same and there will be no warranty of suitability -- so buy them now!

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
My husband is ready to kill me! I bought this shredder two years ago and have yet to use it. Initially,it was very difficult to put together. Our yard man came to the rescue but had to really cram on the casing. Worst thing is I can not find an extension cord to fit into the very short electric power line. I've been [...] every hardware store we come across, but none of the extension cords fit into the rounded plug. Everyone tells me they don't carry that type of cord anymore. For those buyers who have found a cord, please help and tell me the type of extension cord you found and where. I have [$] of useless metal sitting in my garage. Would sure like to use it.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
While it was easy to assemble, when we went to use it, it jammed twice the first time we used it. I expected it to automatically take the leaves/branches very easily. We had to really push in with the handle provided. It states the diameter of what can be mulched; however, we discovered that the jam was caused by a root that was less than the diameter stated. So, that was very disappointing.

I am using this product to help compost, but it kept shutting off when I tried to chip my yard debris especially the lily leaves that became tangled in the chipper and didn't chip. Just feed the debris very slowly and let it clear before adding more debris.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
No yard waste is dry enough to prevent jams. I thought I could grind as I cleaned, not so. In order to use, I now have to lay out (as in laundry??) scraps to dry, then maybe I (disgruntled) will benefit from my purchase. Not what I intended, "VERY DRY" not part of description. Any suggestions?

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I've been using the chipper for about 3 weeks and am completely in love with it! My friend put it together for me and he had a few choice words during this attempt but once finished he said "not so difficult." I tend to let my yard clippings dry out before grinding. If they are too green it will clog the blades. A bit of a nuisance to take apart and clean. Overall, am very satisfied.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I bought this product to clean up the gardens in the fall. I found leaves and stems clogged very quickly and it was not easy to clear the clog. I had to constantly open the hopper, clear the clog and then close and lock the hopper again...The lawnmower with a bagger works just as well. It would not chip a dried up sunflower stalk or tomato stalk.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I have a lot of deciduous trees and lots of falling limbs and branches. I also have a lot of leaves to mulch. I was hoping to be able to use the Garden Chipper to chop up a lot of this stuff. It gets hot and smells like it is burning after a short while. It is best to use this piece of equipment in small spurts and not as a yard clean-up all-at-once piece of machinery. I noticed that the green sticks don't grind up as well but shred in long pieces. That has to be run through twice.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
This machine is far superior to others I have owned that were hard to start and to maintain. To clean a jam in this one is a matter of one or two minutes. It disassembles, gets cleaned out and reassembles WITHOUT TOOLS so easily and quickly that I cannot believe it. It does a great job of turning yard waste into usable mulch and compost. Best buy I ever made. I gave my other to chippers away.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Worked great once you get the hang of it. We even put fallen damaged citrus through it to shred for the composter (Cut the fruit in half first). I would be great if the shedder made smaller pieces, many of the very small branches we fed through through the shredder came out 2 to almost 4 inches long and are hard to compost. the chipper works best on green branches.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
We had 90 ft of overgrown barberry bushes and after doing the cutting and trimming, we had alot of debris. Lawn care people wanted alot of money just to haul it away. We received the chipper and went to town. It was perfect for the job we had ahead of us and saved us alot of money. We expect during the coming years that we will have much more to chip. This is worth the money.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Shreding yard waste for mulch. It even shreds up the gum balls from our gum ball tree making them good mulch also. It would be nice to have a couple of handles coming off the back to use when you tip it back to move out into the yard.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I enjoy using this chipper to clear out my beds. Although I just got it, I imagine all those small twigs and pesky vines will become compost quickly and this year I'm not tossing them out with the garbage. Ha! The only problem is that when it does become stuck I practically have to take the whole thing apart. And if you get this thing there are installation instructions from Gardener's with the receipt. DON'T follow the instructions in the manual.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
This is a very light duty chipper shredder. I am not happy with it, but it does work, let me explain.I have a small yard with a crepe myrtle, and a few maple trees in the front and back. The chipper can't handle any branches greater than a half inch (anything bigger than the width of one of your fingers). Anything larger takes significantly longer time. It will eventually chip it all, but you have to work very slowly. Shredding leaves works well, but the hopper only has a one inch opening at the front top to insert leaves. You'll also notice the hopper is fair small capacity. This results in only being able to place a small amount of leaves in the hopper and using the supplied plunger to push the through the one inch wide opening. Its not very efficient for a lot of leaves...as I said I have a few trees and its a one to two day affair with this chipper.Last but not least I was using it yesterday for some spring cleanup. The bolt that holds down the v-cutter blade came loose and made a terrible racket. By the time I shut the machine off, the bolt and a square hold down washer had damage the blades and the chute. Fortunately, its still under warranty, so I'm getting it repaired. [...]That's good.Frankly, I'm disappointed in performance of the chipper/shredder. The hopper doesn't allow much more than a handful of leaves at a time. The chipper function doesn't function as advertised. With 20/20 hindsight, I would have preferred renting a chipper/shredder based on the aggravation this one has caused. I wouldn't recommend purchasing it.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Overall the chipper is a good tool. It was difficult for me to put together because the motor is heavy and awkward. The chipper hopper could be a bit bigger to handle sticks with knots and bends. It makes fast work of getting rid of rose canes and leaves.

The blades went dull in about 2 hours so it could not chip branches even 3/4 of an inch in diameter.
The tiny openings made it very labor intensive. It clogged frequently and was time consuming to take apart to unclog. It is underpowered. It made me glad that I am an engineer as the assembly instructions were inadiquate.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I am able to wheel the chipper around easily to take it close to the work area. It will chip branches up to 1 1/2" in diameter as well as shred up plant trimmings. It plugs in to an ordinary electrical outlet and has plenty of power to do the job.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I was surprised by how quiet it is. I like the fact that you can easily move it to where you want it and all you have to do is flip a switch and it's ready to go. It reduced big piles of vines, plant trimmings, branches, and leaves from my yard and garden into fine mulch which I added to my compost bins. I used to have to put much of that into yard waste bags. Big piles of leaves used to be too much to fit in the comopost bins but now I can get them all in with room to spare. The only negative is that it is hard to push twigs and small branches past the rubber flaps for the chipper chutes. Most of the time I just put them down the leaf hopper.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I should have listened to the negative reviews! First, look for the Addendum to Instructions on the outside of the box before trying to put the machine together! The booklet of instructions inside the box is incomplete. Second, it takes FOREVER to get plant material and leaves through the machine because of the small opening. Third, The picture of the machine on the website is so misleading... you need a tiny container to fit between the legs to catch the shredded material. The plastic container I bought is much too big... I'm now using a small cardboard box. If I had seen this machine in a store, I definitely WOULD NOT have bought it!

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Poorly manufactured. Holes not drilled straight so bolts are crooked.
Design focused too much on safety at the expense of functionality. Ex: Impossible to use for very long because exit chute clogs because it is not designed to empty efficiently.
And again replacing the cover after cleaning out the chute is difficult because the hole over the safety switch is drilled crooked so it takes a long time to get the bolt started correctly.
All in all it is a very frustrating machine!

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
The safety features on this machine are outstanding. Once you get a feel for how to feed it it works flawlessly. My only complaint is that I cannot feed a large volume of leaves through it at once, so it takes a while to shred leaves. If it wasn't for that I would have given it 5 stars. (I really wanted to give it 4 1/2.)
[0 of 1 customers found this review helpful]
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I just thought it would be easier to feed branches and easier to feed leaves. The leaves have to be fed very slowly.
[1 of 1 customers found this review helpful]
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
The safety features also mean that the outlet funnel is small and clogs if I put green plants/leaves in it. So, I stockpile garden waste till it is dry and then I can zip through a large pile easily and produce nicely sized, chipped material to use as mulch or to compost.
Conversely, I grind only small, youngish branches - not old, hard eucalyptus, for example. The machine can do it but I find it too slow and with too much vibration.
As always, wear safety glasses and dust mask.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
According to instructions. it will not operate iff one screw/bolt is not tight. Unfortunately, no indication of where this magic object is located is given. This is the most expensive piece of land fill I have ever paid money for.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
My wife and I have used this chipper for two years now, and it is still performing well. It will cut everything that it says it will, but you do need to be a little bit 'handy' to keep it in top running shape. The most important thing is to keep the blades sharp! This requires disassembling the housing and removing the blade assembly -- you need a couple of adjustable wrenches and the right sized allen wrench. I hold my blades against a belt sander with vise-grip pliers. If that sounds like too much work, then you will never be entirely satisfied with ANY chipper shredder of any make. Tools require maintenance! But with sharp blades it will do everything it is supposed to do. The only design flaw I found is that the screws holding the top feeder piece to the shaft of the shredding chamber tend to vibrate loose and disappear, but they can be replaced easily enough.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
This chipper is easy to use as long as the materials are dry--no green stuff. Although the leaf opening is not quite large enough for me, it works very well.
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Has a large motor with plenty of power. Does have a tendency to get gunked up with softer materials like soft leaves, etc. after much use. Easy to transport and operate, does a great job of chipping sticks, regardless of wood type.
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Before we bought the electric garden chipper, we would have to cut brush into small sizes that would be picked up by our local waste management company. Now, we chip up branches and use as mulch in our gardens.
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
The assembly went easily especially with the additional instructions from Gardener's Supply. It moves around the yard easily. It chips up fresh and dry small diameter shrub trimmings just as advertised.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Problems start as soon as you open the box. The unit needs to be assembled. This is a very difficult job as the motor is heavy and clumsy. The pieces of the stand do not fit together or attach to the unit as described. A very poor design that cannot be put together by one person. You need two people who have experience with machines.
Once the unit is assembled, it can only handle small, dry twigs. No wet wood or leaves, and nothing bigger than about a half inch in diameter. And it will only take straight sticks. If there are branches, forks, or knots, or sticks are even slightly bent, the unit doesn't feed.
Anything even slightly wet will clog and jam the unit. Vines will also jam it, and the only way to get it going again is to take the thing apart and clear it out.
I found the whole experience extremely frustrating.
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
We tried it after assembled it. It is easy to use and is powerful. It is good to feed in dried yard wastes but not good for fresh wastes because the output port was blocked by the wet material and finally the machine stopped turning itself. In addition, the outcome chips don't have to be so small. They are almost like powder.
Overall, we think it is very helpful in handling yard wastes.
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
The Electric Wood/Leaf Chipper is great at taking care of those brabches that fall during ice storms and fall leaves. The money spent on this product more than offset the expense of having the branches hauled off. It does not make as much noise as the gas powered, making it more easy on the hearing and is also better for the environment. It mulches leaves perfectly so all I have to do is either put them in my compsot pile or directly into the soil. This has been the best buy I have made yet.
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I use to finely chop veggie/garden waste for tumble composter which requires small bits to work/also for worm bin composting.
Works really well with appropriate sized items and seems very powerful for smaller jobs. Don't mistake this one for the professional tree trunk chippers. Don't put stuff in before you turn it on--it can jam then it's a pain to unbolt, clear the jam and start over.
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
My spouse does all the yard work and he loves it. He has pruned trees and mulched with the clippings.
I love giving these items as gifts because he loves it.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
We use this for the brush that we trim off our bushes. Much better than putting it in the garbage. I then used the chipped wood as mulch around our garden.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Definately get the safety googles. This machine is NOT quiet like stated in the description, so ear plugs might also be suggested. Great for use during yard clean-up, but it struggles to keep up with continuous use. If you feed the machine branch after branch it can't chip the wood fast enough, once there are too many chips in the main compartment the blades stop turning and the machine shuts down for safety. In order to resart the machine you have undo the bolts, clean out the area around the blades, re-do the bolts, reset the trip switch and hope it restarts! I found myself doing this quite often - especially when chipping the dense wood such as cedar. If you plan on long term use of your machine go for something more substanial - I should have!

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Great for leaves and soft garden material. Small twigs and branches go through nicely. It clogs often which causes the breaker to shut down, which requires a full "take apart" and re start. I would recommend for light gardening cleanup only.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
We had an initial issue with the startup, i.e. the blade would not spin. Motor needed to be cycled manually. Now, we have used is multiple times. It creates excellent mulch for compost pile addition.
Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Satisfied with this product. Convenien, I have converted a lot of material that I would have had to dispose of to mulch and composte.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
This chipper has proved convenient in converting a wide variety of yard waste (tree clippings, decorative grass cuttings, etc.) to useful, compact mulch. I like the two ports for putting material into the chipper. They are well designed for both safety and utility. The chipper has plenty of power and has proven to be quite sturdy. I look forward to many years of good use from this tool.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I bought the chipper to get rid of oak trimmings and palm fronds, and to save money on mulch and trash bags. The tool is built well and works fine on twigs and small branhes, but the motor blades get entangled by stringy palm leaves and stalls. Standard-sized sabal palm stalks are no problem but larger fronds cannot be completely chipped. If the feeder opening were an inch larger, I could get rid of all my palms' deadfall without issue.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
I purchased this product because I wanted to be able to shred my fall leaves and them for compost and soil amendment. I like that its small and doesn't take up much space in the garage. However, you have to load leaves in extremely small quantities (like, a hand full at a time) which means it can take hours to shred a couple bags full of leaves. Also, the machine has a shut off mechanism if it gets clogged with leave, to keep the motor from burning out, which trips every five minutes. In order to clean it out and get it running again, you have to unscrew four bolts, remove the top of the machine, clean out the debris, and then screw it all back together again. This is a great safety mechanism, but is very time consuming. This happened about every five minutes , which impeded already slow progress and got really frustrating. The chipper function of this product is perhaps the best feature. It can chip small branches, up to an inch or two in diameter. This feature works well, but was not the primary reason I purchased the product nor the primary function the product is marketed to perform. I love Gardeners Supply and really looked forward to using this product. However, I am disappointed in the performance of this product. If I had to do it over again, I would definitely not purchase this product.

Comments about Electric Garden Chipper:
Great value for the size. Factory screws work out too easily. Be prepared to replace them. Then you are set to roll. Does not mulch cigar butts.
